Simply excellent! Well done, greetings from Greece

I've watched several reviews of this lens, and they're fairly positive. Comparing a Tamron telephoto to a Canon fixed lens isn't fair at all. You should get tack sharp from a higher quality lens.

sorry dear I've used mine on an R6. 90D and T5i, and 95% of my shots are clear and accurate, yours might be a dud...they have sold thousands of them and yours is the only terrible review...
@nsilva8003 ай бұрын
The lens can't be terrible maybe it's faulty but probably is a compatibility issue with the camera. Tamron have some good lenses is not fair to burn a brand just because it didn't work for you in that setup

Good guidline on how to calibrate a lens. Did you make adjustments to correct it usng the Tamron tap-n console, by updating the firmware and making correction to the lens usng the software? Did you contact Tamron or the store you bought it about a replacement under warranty?
@gordonyoung19704 ай бұрын
If the lens was new why not return it under warrenty ?? Then to test it outdoors is ridiculous even a slight wind will shake the light plastic test sheet.

Loved this video, short and to the point. Thank you. I came looking for some tips of how I can photograph monuments in Monument valley when sun rises behind them. I don't want monuments to be totally black without any details. Reflector won't work on that scale. Only thing I can come up with is exposing 2 photos; one for the sky and one for the monuments and making a composite. Any advice?
@annemckinnell4 ай бұрын
Absolutely, I love to do two exposures and combine them in post processing to bring out some of the details in the foreground while maintaining the colour in the sky. Just go lightly, and brush in some of the detail from the longer exposed image. You don't want to take it so far that it looks unnatural. Also, make sure you use a tripod! Have fun, it is beautiful there.

Looks like you did the test correctly. I have the same lens and made adjustments for front focus as well, and now I’m getting stunning shots. Sorry it didn’t work out for you with either lens. By the way, I have the G2 version of the lens.
@Ichijoe21127 ай бұрын
Just out of interest, since neither the Video, or its description failed to state it so. Is this the Original eleven Herbs, and Spices, or is it this superior G2 version? That you were reviewing? The way I understood it the older version of this Lens wasn't that great to begin with. This confusion might go some way to explaining some of the hate in here. That said Screwy Lenses are unfortunately a thing, so yeah there's that. But, it would be great to know exactly which version you were testing at the time. The reason, why I went with this Lens (i.e. the G2 variant.), instead of the Sigma Contemporary (Which would have been 400€s cheaper), was two-fold one was the Arca Swiss Mount. (Whoopdedoo), and the little fact that this Lens should be 100% weather sealed. (Not just a dinky little gasket on its behind. Was enough to convince me. I guess we'll see when it hopefully Arrives tomorrow morning. Alas though the local forecast however is looking like rain.
@annemckinnell7 ай бұрын
It was the G2 - it is in the description (buried somewhere in the middle). Hope your lens turns out great. I know there are good ones out there.
@JohnSmith-sq7cv7 ай бұрын
I love my 150-600 G2! That being said, do not buy the lense pre-owned! The lense does have bugs that need to be fixed by Tamron and the 6 year warranty only follows the original purchaser. The tap in console is for mirrorless cameras only. The focus issue with the Tamron lense can generally only be fixed by Tamron.

The tap in console is for any camera

This is the cheapest 600mm lens out there that is actually usable. It is far from top of the line so it will have limitations but mine works flawlessly for capturing wildlife with my 20 year old camera. The eyes of birds are perfectly in focus even when focusing through branches. Once I learned about the limitations, I found ways around them.
@Ichijoe21127 ай бұрын
So what is that a 5mp 6mp tops? Body, and given this was 2004, thats being both highly optimistic, and or highly high-end for the day. Heck FWIW I don't even think the 1D was even Full Frame at that time either, as the 5D (Mark the nothingth.) Wouldn't even be out until a year later. And, that had what 12mp? Ok at least you could resolve an A4 sheet on that.
@fixedfocusmediaofficial7 ай бұрын
@@Ichijoe2112 It wasn't the high end model or the highest resolution one but it works well. I have many 8x12 prints that look fantastic up close and have viewed them at even larger sizes. I even got payed jobs in 2024 with it and no one ever knew it was old or low resolution. They were all blown away by the quality and detail.
@Ichijoe21127 ай бұрын
@@fixedfocusmediaofficial Yeah I am aware of that. Little dirty secret about Megapixels, at least as far as FF goes, most 'Normies' (I should jolly well indeed include myself as such.), can do most of our work well enough in exactly 6mp. Anything above that is just space to let you zoom in, and crop, and still walk out with a usable image. Well that, and Marketing hype. Funny though that Camera Sensors, haven't seemed to have moved on very much since the 5DRs though. Or how people are equating their 1cm 50mp sensor on their Phones with a 50+MP 35mm sensor on an actual Camera. Not banging on your Body, but it's also why you really wouldn't use such a lens as this, or indeed one of the infamous papayatzee Canon L Primes on an APS-C Body the compactness of all those Megapixels will not only screw you over, trying to work out the Maths in you head. (If your a 35mm Dinosaur-brained dimwit, like me), but also work the resolution of your lens to the near breaking point. .
@fixedfocusmediaofficial7 ай бұрын
@@Ichijoe2112 It is a crop sensor camera. I do have some much nicer lenses for it too but it doesn't need them as much as my higher resolution camera body. It still picks up magnificent amounts of detail with a nice lens though. I believe in getting the best lenses I can for all my cameras and it definitely makes a huge difference.
@Ichijoe21127 ай бұрын
@@fixedfocusmediaofficial I agree get good glass, and graduate to a better body after you mastered the last one. Or, you're just tired of having to face 'round with crop factors. That's what drove me off APS-C. Sometimes I just want to live in a perfect 1:1 world, where 50mm is 50mm and not a 50mm with an 85mm FoV.

EXCELLENT presentation!. Many years of photo experience but only just now getting into star trails. I love the photo taking part but not fond of post. I'm real old school and prefer to do as much as i can 'in camera'; You've motivated me to take a stretch and pay more attention in post. When we were out in the AZ desert last year I had the perfect nigh but unfortunately was not prepared. The next few nights the moon was an issue. Photo Pills is a good app as is Star Chart. I have another one that determines the best direction to shoot given your location & any light pollution from nearby cities.I'm saving this video to review again... Thank You.

Did we ever stop to wonder exactly which version of the 150-600 was in dispute here, are are we exposing our G2 expectations on what was likely the original eleven herbs, and spices edition, which was widely known to be a bit sh17 compared to the closet Sigma Contemporary, at the time? 🤔
