Yeah some of the music are remix from original GB, precisely the start and main caves, the Golden temple and another two later areas, the rest are either original compose or reminescent of others games, the hydro station you are for exemplo is a remix of Green brinstar from super metroid, you might regonise some of them later. The thing is....lets say the original GB music wasn't that....appealing.... Something to know about your air dash: Your jump resets the dash counter. So you can dash mid air, double jump, and then dash again. This helps you clear a larger distance than what you would first think you could do. Its so useful that you default to dashing before my second jumps every time now.

Its generally a good idea to focus on getting upgrades before hunting Metroids, unless they are along the path. As the upgrades can really give you the edge at times to deal with the Metroids, or make getting to the Metroids easier. As there is a set of Metroids behind rooms of what I believe to be jagged bones, that you can face tank if your suicidal, but you can save your health for the Metroid by getting the Space Jump.

Okay yes, this game is very cool indeed, with how each area has unique stuff going on and little twists on expected reveals and the like! I wonder how much it will expand in the shortish runtime it has?

You might have noticed. If you see a Metroid's molted skin near an entrance, than that means that there will be a Metroid in that room. Or if you enter a room, and you see the skin right in front of you, that means that there is a Metroid in that room. Of course there are some story locked Metroids that won't appear until you make some progress.

Here's the sad thing; You never get anything to clear through the Blighted Water without suffering Blight damage. As I've made a clear amount of progress in the Central Stratum, and there has been nothing about protection to the Blight yet.

The item got at 15:15 can very easily be sequence broken, that's one of the most fun parts about this game. Master the mechanics and you sometimes will just stumble upon an area you weren't supposed to be at, but damn if you won't try to clear it

Is that the first time that you have only played as luigi? Fitting time for that to come up I suppose! But yes, at least even the extension corps realise the Villain Ball they just dropped by not fighting Mario while they had the chance. XD

If you ever want to go back to using the stick instead of the D-pad, I highly recommend getting a Gamecube controller. The octagon-shaped socket for the stick is PERFECT for 8-directional aim, and helps keep your aim in those directions from slipping. I played this game using one, and while the game was still challenging, I had no trouble with the controls.

While I do think both remakes are good, AM2R does feel like a more faithful adaptation of the original GameBoy game to me than Samus Returns does, so I wouldn't really bother with the original Return of Samus after this... But I would say that Samus Returns is still worth playing separately in the future (even if it's just for fun & not recorded). The actual gameplay overlap between Samus Returns & AM2R is very small.

Try to test the two pawed spear ?? Maybe it can be your favorite???

That was a very neat boss fight! And perhaps telling of the potential Motley actually had, that even as a little spider in a junkheap, he was able to become THAT all by himself. True, working with us will deffo be a better way to get him towards his goal, but that's still pretty badass, even if he was maddened by the blight at that point.

I’ve played the original Metroid 2 and beaten both AM2R and Samus Returns. I definitely think AM2R is the best version. AM2R is what made me a Metroid fan, so it really sucked when Nintendo tried to purge it from the internet.

Hope you don't mind telling you but I think you would have a more fun run doing it on hard. You are a very good player and hard mode will challenge you more and will receive more loot. To unlock things in the extra menu you have to collect a ton of enemies drops. And a bunch of the lore is behind it.

You might want to check out the options menu in this game, if you have time to! There are a few movement and keybinding options, including how to toggle missiles, set a dedicated button for the morph ball, and choose how to diagonally aim (up and down are two different buttons by default but you can set a single button to aim in all directions). This game was made to act as a "bridge" between the controls and movesets of the various Metroid games, so it is possible to play with keybinds that are similar to Zero Mission, Super Metroid or even Dread.

I don't necessarily agree that AM2R is better than Samus Returns--I enjoy them both for different reasons (it's a bit of an apples and oranges deal), but it is certainly a blast and worth playing.

The stated goal when starting Return of Samus (& therefore of AM2R & Samus Returns) is the full galactic extinction of the Metroid species. All remaining Metroids at this point are on SR-388 because Samus killed all the ones the space pirates brought to Zebes. (The Prime trilogy added Metroids to more planets, but Samus wiped those out before this game happens as well.)

AM2R is definitely better than Return of Samus, but I wouldn't say it's better than Samus Returns... Samus Returns & AM2R simply went in two very different directions with remaking Return of Samus, both of which are quite good.

Still bugs me that it's _almost_ the Kanami code ... that was the first thing I tried too - though it's the only time I've seen it used in a _long_ time.

By default the game uses Super Metroid's controls which has diagonal up and diagonal down on their own buttons, and missiles on a toggle. You can also opt for the GBA style controls if you prefer, but Super Metroid controls might be better to help familiarize yourself with them before that happens.

If I remember right they said that they were going for a super metroid look for this remake.
