Looks like a super long week in paradise! Your son was such a trooper! I wonder if you could bring spray bottles and vinegar to fend off the mold if you go to a similar area again? Stomach flu while traveling especially in areas with not a bunch of amenities is the worst! Ended up having to go to a hospital to get an IV and medicines cause fluids were coming out of both ends plus was pumping milk so was dehydrated to the max 🤣 plus Temps over 40C probably doesn't help with dehydration either...

instead of the changing pad I use disposable puppy pee pads. they soak up pee so won't run, disposable when dirty, they are very small and light, and can be used on the sear as well as changing tables.

This was a great list and video. Just so you know, in Canada car seats must have the National Safety Mark attached to the seat indicating that it is Canada-approved and meets Canadian regulation. There are a bunch of car seat safety fb groups that are super useful in providing car seat safety advice.

How about managing the stroller and a roller suitcase once at destination?
@wayfaringhumans
@wayfaringhumans 20 күн бұрын
I wouldn't recommend carrying anything you can't manage all by yourself (if traveling alone). If you can pull the roller suitcase and push the stroller at the same time (one-handed), then go for it. But the lighter, the better. Practice your setup at home before you go. I've traveled solo with my son with TONS of stuff (like... tonssss) and had a really tough time managing it all alone -- it was stressful! Sometimes it can't be avoided though and you make it work with help from the kindness of strangers!

With our daughter we had a Kelty backpack. It was great when she was young but I ended selling it as the bag itself was really heaving and take a lot of space to store it. Now, it's time to search an option for our little boy. 1.5 years old but already at 27 pounds. I like the soft carrier option but I'm wondering if it would be great on short hikes. Also wondering at his age, the soft carrier would be comfortable with child in front... He really wants to see and might not like being in the back. So many carrier options but always difficult to find the right one without trying all of these! Any suggestion, thanks!

I’m about to fly with 3 toddlers. I have “snackleboxes” for each of them, tablets, headphones, and coloring books. I realize some parents are “anti-screens” and I’ll get dirty looks, but in my opinion public transportation isn’t the place to chance kids getting bored.

@@MissGracieLouFreebush We boarded first and then while other passengers were boarding my 3 yr old boy twin had to go potty 3 times within 10 minutes. On the 3rd time I ended up putting a pull-up on him and he had a 10 minutes meltdown(I was so mortified 😅). Take-off distracted him and then he was fine after that. All 3 loved the plane ride, loved their tablet time and their snackleboxes. It was a short flight and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. I think anything longer than 5 hours would have me stressing again.

This is great info thank you! I have an upcoming flight with my then 2 yr old. They've put us (3 of us) in the last row in the 4 seater middle. I'm thinking it might be better to be a window 3 seater? Thoughts? Also, do you think the extra legroom (bulkhead) is better for overnight or daytime flight?
@wayfaringhumans
@wayfaringhumans Ай бұрын
Hi! It really all comes down to personal preference because there are pros and cons for every row. The only objection I have to the last row is no recline -- but I do like it for more darkness (the front rows/bulkheads tend to be brighter, busier, noisier in my experience). The window is also nice for a bit of privacy -- like a sort of cocoon, especially for creating a little toddler "cave" bed (one of my more recent videos has the set up we use with a toddler plane bed + blanket canopy). I think I've come to not really love the bulkhead -- the leg room is great, access to the bathroom, etc. But I don't like how often the arm rests don't go up (!!!) and you have to have all of your bags stowed for take off. I'm rambling now -- I hope this is helpful!

Hi, any tips on how to bring juice pouches and shelf milk boxes being opened at the security?
@wayfaringhumans
@wayfaringhumans Ай бұрын
Hi! If they’re like baby food pouches, like fruit/vegetable apple sauce -like pouches, those are fine. They’re not considered liquid and I’ve never had to have those tested at security. Milk is a little different, but still perfectly fine to take on board in the US (age not specified) and for kids 0-2 in Canada. I made a video that might help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2myXqmtZryXjsksi=I6zC-rnne4lznm1Y

The amount of carry-ons is inconsiderate for other people on the plane. Where do you plan on putting those bags in the overhead storage you're going to take up someone else's space. Because obviously you only purchased three seats. Very inconsiderate in my opinion

My toddler (16months old) ONLY sleeps in complete darkness with absolute silence so I am TERRIFIED of traveling with him lol you are suggesting practicing weeks before the first travel experience and I love the idea, but how would you do that ? My baby is such a light terrible sleeper… technically speaking how would the practice go? Thank you so much for your great help ❤
@wayfaringhumans
@wayfaringhumans Ай бұрын
Hi!! Oh that’s so hard. Every kid is different but could you start trying with naps? Maybe the first few days try opening the curtains while he’s napping 😬 I know, this sounds crazy! And then maybe progress to try putting him to sleep in low lighting. And then if that goes okay, take him out in the stroller, the car, or a carrier during nap time - and before the nap, try to mimic some of your usual sleep cues/routines (if you do milk, books, a blankey or something)… and see what happens?! A slow progression… and likely it won’t work perfectly but why not give it a shot right 😄😄

Do you know anything about assistance in the connection for people traveling with infant on lap? Just like the wheel chair assistance. I am traveling soon and I asked for that. I personally never saw anyone with a baby being rolled in a wheel chair! Wondering if that's an option but how would I carry the stroller and all of our bags.
@wayfaringhumans
@wayfaringhumans 2 ай бұрын
Hmm I've never used any sort of pre-organized assistance but please please let me know if you're able to ask someone and get help! How much stuff are you bringing on the plane? I would strongly recommend only bringing what you are able to manage by yourself and practicing at home if possible! It's so stressful navigating the airport with heavy and unmanageable bags + baby (I've been there!) and so much easier with less stuff.
@serenah6478
@serenah6478 2 ай бұрын
I love this video! Its the best advice I have seen so far. Do they let you check in that fanny pack if you are allowed only for two personal items one for you and one for the baby. I have the same carrier and my toddler is 18 months old, Not familiar with waring him on the back which is appopriate for that age. I agree that It's helpful to bring. I need to start practicing.
@wayfaringhumans
@wayfaringhumans 2 ай бұрын
Thank you! In this case, my son had his own seat so together we were allowed 2 personal items and 2 carry-ons. But even when my son was a lap infant, it was never an issue. If you're traveling with a lap infant, many airlines allow you to bring 1 carry on, 1 personal item, and 1 diaper bag for free - www.wayfaringhumans.com/does-a-lap-infant-get-a-personal-item-carry-on-by-airline/ (the carrier, stroller, car seat -- these don't count as personal items, fyi! and can usually all fly for free)

has anyone purchased an American car seat and flown with it in Canada? Did you have any issues with the different regulations from both Countries? Looking specifically at the Cosco Scenera NEXT
@wayfaringhumans
@wayfaringhumans 2 ай бұрын
Hi! Do you mean issues on the airplane or driving in Canada with it? I've only had American car seats and live in Canada/have traveled in Canada with them. I can't tell you exactly for the plane itself, because it does seem like certain airlines will check the car seat for country-specific approval stickers (maybe someone else here has some insight?); but for driving in Canada with our American car seats, we've never had an issue 🤔
