Brocky would've been disappointed since there's no Holden anymore. RIP 2 icons

Race on Sunday, in the showroom on Monday, a great era in Aussie motor sport. RIP Brockie and my best wishes to Allan Moffat.

I was utterly spoilt as a kid growing up watching these drivers. They should have a second race at Bathurst, earlier in the season, when it's more likely to be wet.

Good job, I was born on the day of the Bathurst 1000 in 1975, it’s like I fell in love with motorsports since the day I was born.

Very disappointing to see the great man Alan Moffat finishing his days with Alzheimer’s and members of his family fighting over the assets before the guy even passes. Young James Moffat is doing the right thing by his dad by all accounts

I could sit here all day watching the races of a bygone era. Not so much for today's Bathurst races which are just so generic and sterile.

So cool how in the pit lane close ups you can see they really were just tough street cars, the Toranas with drum brakes and Moffats falcon even had the stock steering wheel on it!

Will Hagon & Evan Green sounded so similar. Extremely similar. This was the last Bathurst 1000 Will Hagon commentated for Channel 7. After spending 1976 commentating in England, he returned to Australia in 1977, & joined the ABC commentating on Motor Sport races for them for a very long time.

It really was interesting back then. The V8 roar vs turbo whistle, the sleek styling of the gtr coupe vs the boxy sedans, awd advantage when the track got wet, AWD on slicks in the wet vs RWD on wet tyres, it had it ALL. Then they ruined it, instead of being an incentive to Holden/Ford to produce better cars, they just got rid of the GTR.

Whincup on how he control his car is superb. He knows his car's maximum limit especially on the braking zone and corner speed. He also used his veteran moves to overtake mclaughin. Sadly he has nothing left on his fuel tank on the last turn.

John Goss had a high HP spec car approved by Ford who presented it to Cams and Cams refused to reply on the build number for homologation until it was too late for Ford to build what was a endurance special with rocker arms and a list of goodies that not even the Cobra option 97 had 3 years later . Ford did make a John Goss special but was a 4.9 V8 (302) that had a green hood and green paint .lol My uncle was at Cams and when they seen the specs of the car in February 1975 , he said the cams hierarchy shit themselves & ignored the problem.
