The ridiculous stanley dressing is purely to sell you crap. No ones walking around with a tray of maccys on a drinks cup in the real world...or if they are they need a reality check

I agree with these. Some of the stuff listed here are wild the prices for what they are and most likely fads that will eventually die out anyway

Stanley cups are just the most ridiculous things. Top heavy, ugly, then things added to the tops like snack trays?..... like they are not top heavy enough. Why are people so gullible?

I'm good at buying very few items as a minimalist and frugal 🤣. For 2025 I'll be going to the hairdresser's fewer times this year. I do this year on year. And I'll only be buying one make up foundation for the year. I have two nail varnish in use, I'll wait until both are used until I buy another. 😊

The air heating is slight, however if you have showered, the energy in the moisture will be extracted, then you will be able to feel a warmth to the air blowing from the top. If you drop the humidity in a room, your heating will become more efficient, saving cash. You should be focused on keeping room humidity to between 35-55% as higher % is dangerous to health.

I rented two dresses this year for weddings I went to. One was a Monique Lhuillier dress that retails for $1100 (CAD) and I rented it for $135. It was gorgeous.

Love your vids one thing I’ve found is it’s actually more economical to buy better quality meat for instance an Oakham extra large chicken from m&s is around £ 10-12 but will do for several meals whereas an Asda basic chicken is £5 but will only do one meal for a family.i also incorporate alot of organ meats and rabbit into our diet which is quite cheap. my friend buys a whole lamb, portioned out by a butcher and that will last her family for half a year in curry’s and roasts etc and works out economically.

I think this is such a good point that you make here. There is a stage where buying cheap isn't saving you money any more and can even be costing you more. I always go for the big chicken, then get dinners, sandwiches and soup out of it!

Totally agree with passing stuff like clothes and toys to youngest siblings. Also nowadays clothes becoming to be made worse and worse from year to year, I personally will keep my clothes for my daughter who is 11 atm, I think she will proudly wear it one day or will resell as a quality vintage.

I live in México living below your means might be susteinable in some places, here where I live the average worker makes about 350-600 a shower towel or a aromatic candle is 300-350 pesos can you imagine? You go to work for 9 hours and you can only buy two candles with your daily salary.

Great tips! One way I minimize my food waste is by having regular days dedicated to using up leftovers, usually once a week on a day when I’m less likely to have time to cook. Stir fries or stone soup are great ways to repurpose those random scraps of ingredients (half a cup of ground beef here, 1/4 of an onion there) that aren’t enough on their own, and you can keep those scraps in the freezer until you have enough. 🍲 😊

Thank you Vicky for reminding of the how much food we waste. In 2025 the goal is to be intentional about food wastage instead of normalising it. I will be keeping a watch full of eye and mental note of what goes in that bin! That in turn should help with behaviour change.

Prior to Christmas I did a whole house declutter so I’m already feeling lighter. I started buying Christmas presents online from November so I didn’t panic and overspend. Evenso, Christmas is an expensive and tempting time of year. My low spend month will focus on food. I’ve done a stocktake of my pantry and made a menu plan for budget meals. I’m looking forward to this detox and getting back to a peaceful routine.

The one thing I have started this past month is keeping a price list for all the things that I buy on a regular base. I also have three freezers I inherited from my mom rest in peace. And I have decided one freezer will be for raw meats, one freezer will be for condiments and one freezer will be for my meal prep ready to eat foods and I absolutely plan on not buying anything that I don’t need this coming year.
@TheMummyBubble

That’s such a good idea to keep a price list, I need to do this as it’s hard to remember everything. Love the three freezers! My parents have two, one is a big box freezer for batch cooked foods which I think is a great idea.

I haven’t bought any of this stuff anyway ie Stanley cups, temu, I don’t buy make-up until I need to replace it, I don’t wear false nails or eyelashes, I’m not colouring my hair anymore, my only thing I would say I waste my money on is the odd coffee out. I do buy too many clothes though I buy second hand though but I don’t need more so I intend to stop.

Those enormous mugs are hideous things. A water bottle with scent sounds horrendous. I love water. Straight from the tap. I don't buy scented candles anymore. They play havoc with my husband's sinuses and they are not good for pets. Same goes for scented oils. Have never had nails done on my hands and it's years since I had a pedicure. Sadly I do need to pay for a podiatrist to sort out my ingrowing toenails every 8-12 weeks. He really butchers the look of them but I can't do what he can do because I Can't sit in front of my feet looking back at them with a magnifier and light. I stopped colouring my hair years ago. But I currently hate it. It's white. I have some semi-permanent grey shades to experiment with. They will wash out so it's not a disaster if it goes wrong. I have some pink semi-permanent colour too. Might try experimenting with those soon. I never bothered with a "skin care routine". What an expensive faff. Pear's clear soap, a flannel and warm water cleans it and Oil of Olay moisturises it. I don't wear make-up unless I'm going out-out. My skin looks 15 years younger than I am. I've always had really nice skin unless I cover it with make-up too often. I have no idea why women wear make-up all the time. Go natural. It looks so much better. I need to buy some face flannels this year as ours are getting too thin. I don't need towels or bedding. I've recently sorted out and catalogued all my cleaning and washing products, gathered them into one cupboard and am working through them systematically. Only when all items in a type (eg washing machine detergent) are used up will I buy more and then I will buy 1 thing and keep it in the right place to be used. I don't buy flowers often as I have a mischievous cat and they are likely to be knocked over. I need to conserve my money for more important things, such as savings and some medical expenses. The rest is fluff.

Forgot to say I've not bought from Alli Express, Temu or Shein and don't intend too. I've started watching a UK channel with a young couple in their first home, which is a cute cottage. She's filling it with season decor from these places. A lot of t looks very cheap and flimsy and, well, it's tat really. It's totally unnecessary. It would be better to buy from Etsy makers and to buy stuff slowly, not stuff a new, small cottage with tons of landfill in the making.

The way I managed to change my mindset towards saving was seeing it as the most valuable purchase I could ever make - buying my freedom in retirement. I have a fairly set idea of what I’d like that to be (a gentle, stress free and simple frugal life) and I keep it in my mind always. I pretty much love it already, but at least the. I won’t be working. When I don’t spend money on something - like a train ticket, I transfer that money in to my savings at the end of the day. Or if I walk away from a purchase, I transfer that as well. Transfers like that help me see it saving up daily, better to see it taken away from my account in a good way! Buying my freedom now so I can enjoy the money in the future when I’ll need it.
