I think the changes are good enough for him to be the worst high tier. He was already being systematically downplayed in my personal opinion. To me he was already a good mid tier character. If he receives a couple of more strong's buffs aside from this, he could become top tier easily, has the kit for that to happen. If you enjoyed the video bro, please consider giving it a like and subscribe, it helps me like crazy. Have a great day tomorrow!

Yeah you could for sure argue for MvC1 being on the list! Legendary game with crazy good visuals, groundbreaking for the genre. I like your list it has some different games people don't mention a lot and just like you I have faith that FF COTW will be ABSOLUTE PEAK. Yep, I actually believe that if Soulcalibur was better developed over the years, it would have the role and place Tekken has right now. But sadly, the franchise was not well constructed over the years and it had a lot of problems and trouble to succeed. For sure hahahaha it's literally over 30 years of enjoying fighting games! I didn't change the nominees that much but since I've been playing FGs since like 2004-2004, when I do my fully personal list there will be for sure some changes taking into account the less time on the scene. Yeah, when I do my fully personal list instead of mainly using the nominees from max and his friends video, I'll for sure add an SNK game. I think KOF 98 or 2002 Ultimate Match have an argue of being the number 10th spot. Now, my real gamble, is that FF COTW will become a top 10 fighting game of all time right away, I have infinite faith in that game, I feel like it will be revolutionary for modern SNK.

@ButtonMashersYT Күн бұрын
@@Sonicfalcon16 I mean is hard to say right away, but I would for sure add KOF 98 to the list, big SNK fan. Probably at number 10 or 9. I would maybe also take SoulCalibur out, since I don´t have much experience with the franchise even though I understand its huge relevance and impact, so I can keep DBFZ in the list. Also, if I developed the list like in a couple of years and not right away, I can assure you that SF6, T8 and FF COTW have a BIG chance of being top 10 contenders. If all of those games have good developing cycles, during the next years they will be automatic contenders to represent the biggest game in the history of their respective franchise. I especially have HUGE FAITH on Fatal Fury City Of The Wolves, I think that if SNK takes the right decisions, which until now has been the case, that game can be LEGENDARY. But again, making lists like this is challenging hahaha but super fun tho!!

I think Claudio, victor, Reina, and Jin are some of the best beginner friendly choices for sure Claudio is very straight forward to understand but he kinda requires a bit of a nuanced approach to consistently win with him since he has no real way of 50/50ing you. But he does have some of the best buttons & hitboxes in the game that help a lot. Not a Claudio main but he’s a very fun character very fun character to play man
@ButtonMashersYT
@ButtonMashersYT Күн бұрын
I would replace Reina with Law on that list, because Reina can be considered some of the hardest characters in the game, but the other ones for sure. If someone asked me to learn a character for complete beginners, I would probably say Claudio or Jin. As you say, Claudio is straight forward as hell and even though he doesn't have the best 50/50 game, he still has some pretty decent lows and some of the best mids in the game. My problem with modern fighting games is they keep making EVERY character a combo character and they nerf any "lame" play. I have slow hands, I prefer slower play but I also like that others can play "hype" but I still want my option yaknow. Making combos easy doesn't change this it just makes them less cool and instead makes me annoyed because now everyone is mashing. I just wanna play twelve in third strike and play like an idiot.

HAHAHAA I have not thought about this but it is true, there isn't really characters like those anymore, very few! In Tekken 8 for example you would have to play Viktor or Claudio, more like 1 hit characters. On SF6 kind of hard to think of someone like that! Pretty interesting point what you say. When I was a kid at the arcades I first played kof 97, my main goal was to beat the cpu with jump kicks and sweeps, because that was what I knew, then my challenge was to land special moves then supers, all this just to beat the arcade mode and see the endings and it was great, when the cpu was no match for me I started to challenge other players even knowing I was gonna lose, after a while I started to beat some of thesse players and than I became the best player of my 25000 people little town and I felt so good even with this little achievement. In FGs fun its not completely related to winning or losing.

It's decent, but not the best low in the game by any means. If Claudio had good lows, he would be an S+ character. Lows and throw game is where he lacks a little, doesn't mean that section of his gameplay is horrendous, but it has no comparison to the top tiers in the game. Step 4 for sure is a decent low tho. @ its +6 on hit only -12 on block he makes a really difficult situation at wall shutting down movement with the step 4 or a step b1 at all over all I think its one of the best lows in the game tbh any character would kill for a low like that
@ButtonMashersYT
@ButtonMashersYT 8 күн бұрын
I mean as you say the frames on it are great, but it does not necessarily lead to something big, which is key on a game like this, that prioritizes high damage over anything, like most modern fighting games. A low like Jin's D2 for example is amazing, because it has good plus frames on hit, can be a 100 damage on counter hit and it is -14, so not launch on block. That to me is a busted low. Of course, as you say, other characters would like to have that low Claudio has, but I would consider it a high tier low, not a top tier one, especially with characters like Law, Yoshi, Dragunov and Nina existing XD

Zafina is still a Bottom 5 character. The buffs helped, but she still cannot play Tekken 8. * Movement is meaningless due to tracking and small stages * Lowest damage and worst wall carry * Worst punishment - good i10 punish, trash punishment otherwise * Azazel gimmick is trash because those moves are either - on block or slow. Azazel moves are merely lackluster combo enders out of Heat * bad Heat - worst set of Engagers and Heat boost merely gives her standard damage (think 2 Drink Jamie in SF6). Power Crush is useless due to slow Azazel moves * stances are largely knowledge checks with bad moves due to either ending High, being slow, or combo video punishable on block

i think the problem is the mindset of the player in that the primary thought is since im really good at this game i should b winning all the time. in reality all ur making is educated guesses (in a decently balanced game) and in the end an educated guess is still a guess wich is prone to go sideways if that move is properly balanced, utterly busted characters vs bad characters is different

D2 is just a scrub killer. Any top player can reliably react to it. It's far from Jin's best tool and the rest of his lows are anemic because all the properties are concentrated on D2.
@ButtonMashersYT
@ButtonMashersYT 14 күн бұрын
I mean, all people that play Jin say that D2 is reactable hahahaha and Jin is probably the top tier in this game that gets downplayed the most, especially from Jin mains, so personally I think that his D2 being consistently reactable is debatable hahahaha but it can be some times for sure. Still, one hell of a move, but as you said not necessarily Jin's best move, he has some crazier ones. Reactable doesn't mean its bad and it's on the edge of reactable Edit: so yeah went in watched a few Jin sets with pro players, you're still seeing D2 a few times per match and it's still getting hits in situations where they can react. So no, any top player can't reliably react to it, and even if they could, the low would still be great.
@sharkythesharkdogg
@sharkythesharkdogg 13 күн бұрын
No way. It's barely on the edge of reactable offline. Once you add a little mental stack with Jin's other stuff, it's even harder to see. Online, forget seeing it at all. Armor King had a similar move in db3. i23, stagger on normal hit (good frames for a low +5), decent damage low, ch launch. However, THAT move for AK was launch punishable on block. Jin has a reeeaalllly good thing going considering it's only -14 on block. It has no business being plus on normal hit too. That's just insulting.

I try every day to remind myself that they're called fighting GAMES and that we should be having fun. I've made several mostly successful attempts to make the game more FUN ever since I made that realisation. 1. I picked up fun characters like Panda and Azucena 2. I customised my jukebox (or set it to random) 3. prioritise playing player matches when possible and 4. I plan on getting a fight stick for Christmas if you're getting tilted, take a break. If you come back in like, an hour and you're still pissed off take a day off. If you come back after a day and you're still unequivocally peeved take a week off. Leave the game to play something else. Come back when you're actually ready to play again and have fun. It's not about winning, it's about getting better and hitting buttons. Be nicer to yourself, be nicer to your opponents but most of all, for the love of god HAVE. FUN. THIS IS AN ORDER.

You are wrong when you say you can lab for 30 mins go online and have fun - this is for players that have legacy knowledge. I've played some games to a reasonable level but am totally new to fighting games. From a PC gamer's perspective a dpad is for "drink potion" and "open map". In order to even control my character I had to get a hitbox. It then took me 2 weeks to learn a consistent combo - this combo was almost impossible until I found a video on "button buffering", something which the game does not teach you, nor do "combo" videos talk about. Not to mention "micro dashes" that are not talked about either. There's endless talk about learn to "punish"- but unless you know the frame data of over 30 characters you won't know when its your turn. With 30 chars and say 30 regularly used moves thats 900 strings that not only do you need to know, but also be able to *recognize*. This could take a year or more to learn easily. Videos talk about "what" to do but not "how" to do. Since I play the Piano, I can tell you what to do - press these buttons in this order- however learning "how" to do it takes *years* of practice. Take if from a real beginner these games are no where near as accessible as you think they are.
@ButtonMashersYT
@ButtonMashersYT 16 күн бұрын
Oh of course bro there can be a very high difficulty to these games, as I have said on the video. But in this moment in time, this is the state of fighting games in which they are the most accessible and making them more accessible than this can become a problem, due to the amount of detail and deepness that characterizes the genre. The thing is, what you say even though is true of course, it is also dependent on what level you are expecting to play in. If you just want to pick and play, you can of course do it. Tekken as an example, wanna play? Rage art is one button, heat is one button. You learn one launcher, one low, those 2 mechanics, you can start playing. You should not set expectations on yourself to become good at this types of games quickly, so to start that is how you should probably think and just enjoy it step by step. Thanks for your opinion and the way you see it tho, it is for sure a big part of fighting games. If you enjoyed the video please consider giving it a like and subscribing, it helps me like crazy. I agree with the reply here. The main problem with fighting games is the complexity is insane and you need to dedicate like 3 hours a day of labbing to even be decent. Your argument is that it's more about fun than skill/competition but it's near impossible to have fun when you get stomped so hard you cant even land an attack. Imagine if you were learning boxing and you were only facing Mike Tyson in his prime (but he wasn't teaching you, or going easy on you). He is treating you like you're his opponent for a title belt and just going FULL EFFORT on you. You get knocked out on repeat over and over and can't even get a punch in because his defense is impeccable. That's NEVER going to be fun, no matter what mentality you adopt.
@ButtonMashersYT
@ButtonMashersYT 15 күн бұрын
But you are not going to find anyone like Mike Tyson on the skill level that you are, that's the thing. You think the other guy is a monster, but if you are at a skill level in which you are just learning the game at the start, the other guy is as clueless as you, you just think he is better but that is false, unless it is like a Smurf or something like that of course. I do appreciate your comments tho and I agree that the skill gaps can be a problem in enjoyment, of course. I'm writing a video about something related to it actually and how fighting game developers could make fighting games more appealing and accessible for casual audiences. Have a great day!

@ardidsonriente2223 15 күн бұрын
You do need years and extreme dedication to be a pro player. You do need years of casual commitment to be a consistently good player. But you only need about a day to be competing within your level. And you need less than an hour to be having fun, regardless. I have seen it many, many times, both with adult acquitances and famous internet personalities, and specially with children and teenagers. They are losing and winning almost at random, yet they are slowly improving, and they are having a blast. The problem is feeling shame for losing. The problem is obsesing with winning. As long as you enjoy learning, losing is not a problem for having fun. I can be fuming of rage because I'm losing to cheap stuff I can't counter yet... but even in my worst scrub tantrum moments, I'm still getting fun. I know I'm going to lose a lot. I know I will never be close to MenaRD or Daigo... but I can still learn, enjoy and be annoying to my opponent. That's why I love fighting games: they are not about the external goal, but about learning and improving yourself.
@ButtonMashersYT
@ButtonMashersYT 15 күн бұрын
For sure, at the end of the day is related to your expectations. You cannot think you'll have fun if you put so much pressure on you to be "good", especially as a new player. Your goal should be to just explore the game and learn it slowly while you enjoy it.

I completely agree with you; competition is important but having fun should be the number one priority. If we fall out of love with that fun, we treat it like a job. But the problem is, unless you’ve studied for your career (lab constantly and watch vods), and fought for a better wage or promotion (go to tournaments), then why treat it like a job. Those are just my two cents; great video BTW!

For sure bro, a lot of times it feels like we forget that the key thing is enjoying the games instead of becoming a god on them. There is fun in winning and learning of course, but they are not the only sources of fun. Super fun to play against Dr. Wheelo, Roshi, Videl, Mr Satan and Recoome or something else every game, to stall out so you win out of time out HAHAHA fun is subjective, but the meta of this game is a fucking joke and there is hundred thousands of video games to play in which you don't have to deal with people being willing to cheese you 24/7 online. If you bought sparking zero to play Wheelo every game, your decision I guess, but defending the state of the game as "skill issue" won't take it into a better state in any context. If you have fun with the game tho, more power to you, keep playing it. Have a nice day!

I'd say he's top 12 as I think he has a few actual weaknesses, like as you said lows but also his jab game is pretty mid and his throw game is pretty below average as well since he only has the 3 default ones and none of them cause stage hazards. Otherwise very broken and also you're right he's very beginner friendly because he can teach you some of the basics of poking and stuff but he's also so good at teaching frame traps with running 2. I wouldn't recommend him at higher level though because he's good but you'll get bad habits spamming broken shit.

I appreciate the nuance and consideration given here. I’ve never played tekken and the only 3d fighter I put any significant time into was soul calibur 2. I’ve been considering giving T8 a try for a while but I feel like every time I’m about ready to pull the trigger and jump in, I see some new tide of negativity around the game. I’m just a mere casual who has been enjoying SF6 but I feel like there’s probably something out there that’s more my speed. It’s been hard to gauge if Tekken 8 would be that given alot of the discourse so it’s refreshing to hear this analysis

I'm glad you found the video useful bro, I try to present the most neutral position I can. The game has a lot of controversy and with reason, since the gameplay loop is pretty crazy. But if you like high pace games and aggressiveness, the game is for you for sure. And the roster is crazy good. If you prefer slow gameplay or more methodical neutral, then maybe this game won't be the best for your buck. Gotta say tho, if you play SF6 casually and stuff, this game is great for casuals, the system mechanics are literally designed around just pressing buttons and not thinking too much hahahha so you may like it. I have other videos on the game discussing more stuff, like changes to make it better, guides, etc so feel free to check them out, they may convince you or dissuade you from buying the game. Thank you for the comment. If you enjoyed the video, please consider giving it a like and subscribing, it helps me A TON. Have an amazing week!

what version sf6 did you play? im at diamond with cammy rn, and so MANY mashers are in the game rn, drive rush makes it so that mashing is some what viable due to how ridicolous neutral skips are on this game, bison is specially guilty lol

@ButtonMashersYT 23 күн бұрын
I just got Master rank with Terry and I did not really encounter that much mashers, in T8 literally every opponent mashes every interaction, 1 of like 15 people is a "blocker". On SF6 is more like 50/50 in terms of players playstyles. The neutral skips are probably as you what gets mashed the most, but no comparison at all with what happens on T8. SF6 punishes players constantly mashing very hard and very consistently. If you enjoyed the video, please consider giving it a like and subscribing, means a lot for me. Have a great week!

Mashing is and has always been viable option in a game where active defense an offense has to work in tandem with one another. The issues people have with mashing is that they aren’t playing their frame advantage correctly which comes from actively gathering information as to what your op is going to do. It’s harder in a first to 2 but it’s still easy to gather that data. For example your opening clip drags db 3+4 Is +3 you did HS i15 the issue there was spacing db3+4 left you at a distance which lead to you getting backswing by the dj. Pressing your +advantage isn’t always the go to option. You have to make people respect your plus which most people aren’t aware. I main law/Leroy the kings of Mr steal your turn a lot of drags do that at distance and eat 11 chs for there trouble. Same I know after laws db 3 a lot of people dick punch to avoid pressure i ssr or single back dash to get the whiff. Even in your game you’re actively mashing after d2 instantly doing PC on the same timing and your doing it because it works at that skill level. There is always a huge risk to mashing also proper play is a deterrent to those players who don’t respect your plus frames properly. It’s a player issue at the end of the day.
@ButtonMashersYT
@ButtonMashersYT 23 күн бұрын
Yeah depending on how the enemy plays you should of course exploit your frame advantage with moves that are uninterruptible ideally, for sure. At the end of the day they are just numbers, they don't really "mean" you will win an interaction. Just find it pretty interesting how the game revolves around mashing so much, pretty unique to be honest. If you enjoyed the video, please consider giving it a like and subscribing, means a lot for me. Have a great week!

@@ButtonMashersYTRespectfully the game doesn’t revolve around mashing. People mash tend to primarily because it’s worked vs previous opponents or they don’t have a grasp of the game. With the amount of new players with 0 legacy knowledge they just do what works. Mashing is frequent in every fighting game. Which always has its own risk to reward. Tekken 8 has issues with rank inflation people aren’t ask skilled as their rank heavy +frames on Heat Dash/ Heat Smash PC being safe on block certain characters tracking net code game optimizations etc. My reactions to people mashing is either fuck I should of played in frame I got out played or this mane is about eat all these CH

@@HolyShytItsBrandon I mean I literally say what you are saying in the video bro hahaha of course mashing is a part of every fighting game, just in different grades. This game rewards mashing a lot, so is just a little more frequent. I also fuck people up when they mash, doesn't mean everyone will stop doing it of course. The game OBVIOUSLY revolves around MORE things than just mashing, but it is FOR SURE one of the things that are present on the gameplay loop in general, maybe not in pro but that's not our reality. Because most people can't remember frame date for 9000 moves? Because you do chip in heat, no hitting no chip. Because HEAT > all? Just get heat at all costs. Stealing turns, I do "risky" big move because you respect frames too much. You answered your own question, the game design encourages mashing.
