hows it running, any issues?.. I did a change and replaced the tensioner bolt and it snapped after a couple of years destroyed engine. So just wondering if NOT changing the tensioner bolt is the way to go. Also think the specified torque for this bolt is alittle much when the engine is like 20 -30 years old!

Thanks, another one of those jobs that should be simple but often turn into a nightmare, I never learn 😁😁 My original links had no flats to put a spanner on and the access for the bottom one is awful so I bit the bullet and bought a second hand grinder, something I've often meant to do but never got around to and I'm just going to try and cut both ends off, hopefully an easier way to do it 😁😁😁 I now remember replacing links on another car years ago that I ended up having to use a junior hacksaw and mole grips which took ages with a lot of effort and swearing, oh the joys of car maintenance 😁😁

Just be careful you only cut what you want, as easy to catch things like brake pipes and abs sensors that are in the area, speaking from experience

I Did not know the G wagons was that expensive, but I have noticed that in movies they treat it as like you are filthy hyper rich and own a Ferrari or Lamborghini or Rolls Royse when you have a G Wagon. Here in Norway the G wagons is a normal sight in traffic and there is a lot of them, Ferrari or Lamborghini on the other hand I have seen one in 40 years and Porsche 3 times. And a Porsche I see is in same price range as the G wagon, did not know it was a luxury car that is very expensive lol ;)
@RichManPoorMotors2 ай бұрын
when i looked at buying one in my 20's they were about the same price as a rangerover which was about £30,000 or a 1/3 more than a golf gti
@kaushikganesh62162 ай бұрын
Its a shit car that ppl pay more for unnecessarily because its rare and expensive to begin with and they market it well, making it more desirable to some.

Here in Norway the roads is full of them... I did not know it was a expensive car until now lol. But Ferrari and Porsche that is in the same price range apparently is so rare that I have seen 2 porches and 1 Ferrari in 40 years here.

@a64738 with the weather and remote places in Norway it makes more sense than London where the most off road they do is mounting the curb outside the school drop off or Waitrose car park
@kaushikganesh62162 ай бұрын
@a64738 that's true it's more common than a supercar because of its practicality. Expensive depends on your country here in india with 270% taxes the g63 costs 450,000 usd 😅

@peterjanvanbijnen2262 ай бұрын
it is the bullet proof built quality, almost so good as an toyota 75 , but you can buy the g wagon everywhere but the toyota not. Every land rover and range rover, is rubbisch compared to an g wagon
@RichManPoorMotors2 ай бұрын
Build quality depends what you mean by that, massive panel gaps, having to slam the doors to close them, like on a van from the 1980’s wind noise, creaks from the dash. Don’t get me wrong I love Mercedes, but the g wagon was designed as a utility vehicle, not a luxury suv / 4x4 if you need a serious off road vehicle, your remote and need off road tyres then yes but if you have road going tyres and live in a city then why
@RichManPoorMotors2 ай бұрын
Just to mention I have never had a problem with 3 discovery’s or 3 ranger rovers doing 60-80,000 miles per year apart from one cracked alternator bracket, still worked I just replaced it when it needed servicing. Mercedes I’ve had “Black Death” injector seats needs recutting and a Mercedes car had grass in the gearbox. And who ever at Mercedes in 1992 thought biodegradable wiring looms were a good idea. Rust on wings/fenders on bmw vw and Mercedes This German reliability is a myth

Hello! Thank you so much for this video - we managed to close the roof manually following your video. But probably we did something wrong at the end - we closed the trunk and it's impossible to open now. At the autoservice they don't know what is the problem wit the roof and only for opening and accessing the hydraulic system to check the problem, they want to charge crazy money. I decided not to fix it just asked them to remove beeping (the cars beeps because it things roof is open). They also say to remove this beep, they need to access hydraulic system because fuses are there. From your experience, maybe there is easier way to reset electronic system or clean errors, so beeping stops? Thank you in advance.
@RichManPoorMotors3 ай бұрын
The beeping is because something isn’t in the right place, to open boot pull fuse 14 I think from memory in engine bay an you can open boot but replace as it is needed for other systems, the most likely causes are boot locking tines in the catch or hydraulic rams left right c pillar area not fully up, a temporary way to stop beeping is to remove plug to roof mechanism on the boot lid this disconnect the educators beeping and allows you to operate the boot

Great video 👍🏻 and very informative. I’ve always fancied a twin top but this has always worried me if this happens when the roof gets stuck . Are they reliable & do you get many problems with the roof ? Cheers Terry
@RichManPoorMotors3 ай бұрын
I’ve had a be eos that had no faults and this Astra, the Astra had mega mileage and I bought it with a fault, the wiring loom on the Astra is exposed compared to the hidden eos, which makes it more prone to being caught by something in the boot. But easier to repair, the main problem would be a broken wire but this can happen in any saloon, estate or hatchback, there is just more of them in a twin top.

If the cable has snapped I’m not sure but under the bonnet fuse box pull fuse 14 or 15 (don’t drive with fuse removed as it dose other circuits this will alow the boot to open with the key blipper, try that otherwise I don’t know without damaging the boot
