It was during May 2023. Yes, we had a brilliant day. We took the Cremyll Ferry across to Mount Edgecombe, then walked the coast path to Cawsand, then had a lovely leisurely lunch, then had to run like hell to catch this ferry back to the Barbican. 😅

Can you buy these brackets?
@JohnJoss19 ай бұрын
They’re supposed to be part of the trim moulding. So no, you can’t buy them separately. Have a look on partsgateway.co.uk to see if you can get a replacement trim, maybe.

On my bath there is a piece of ply between the tub and the connectors underneath. It's black with mould, is it supposed to be there
@JohnJoss110 ай бұрын
Er, no, I shouldn't think so! Sounds like there's a water leak comming through somehow. It'll either a problem with the sealing washers on the taps or the silicone around the tub needs re-doing ☺

If the total distance is x, at each step we can compute the distance left to travel: x * 3/5 * 3/4 * 3/5 * 1/2 = 10 => x = 10*5*4*5*2 / (3*3*3) = 2000/27 = 74.074074... So she has travelled 64.074074... miles.
@Wyld1one Жыл бұрын
The solution isn't exactly precise either. The distance she travels is actually d = (2,000 / 27) - 10, it's not precise because you get an infant repeating series after that. My work: 2.5 1.4 2.5 1.2 S (amt traveled + amount left, remainder left = (n) 2/5s + 3/5s = 5s, r1=3/5s 1/4r1+ 3/4r1 = r1, r2=3/4r1 2/5r2 + 3/5r2 = r2 , r3=3/5r2 1/2r3 +1/2r3 = r3, r4 = 1/2r3 (destination reached) r4 = 10, told this r3 =20 , r2=5/3r3, r1 = 4/3r2 , s= 5/3r1 r2 = 100/3 r3 r1 = 400/9 s S = 2000/27 So the distance biker traveled was actually (2000/27) -10, which is exact since computing it will give you a repeating decimal infinitely

Sorry if I didn't make this quite clear after the line of r4 = 10 What I'm doing is I'm reverse substituting - unless I'm working backwards back up the calculation tree. Once you get the final version of s, you can verify by working back down the calculations in order

I did not make the assumption that the two ? imply the same symbol, in this case it works out that they do represent the same symbol. However, if the sum for the bottom row was 145 the answer would be @ and #, they would need to add another column sum in order to determine the precise order of those two symbols in that case.

@lorenzosanti3164 Жыл бұрын
comparing first column with second row you get #-$=25. Comparing second row with second column you get @-$ =15. So #-@=10. putting ?=# you get for last row 2*10+ second row =155, which is want you want.

I didn't work through the equations, so I didn't know the value of each symbol. We know that it can't be @, because that would make the last row equal to the 2nd row. ? must be greater than @. Comparing 2nd row to 1st column, we see that # is greater than $. Comparing 2nd row to 2nd column, we see that $ is less than @, so it can't be $. That leaves # as the answer.
@JohnJoss1 Жыл бұрын
Yes, brilliant! You know I hadn’t even thought about doing it without actually solving for the numerical values for the symbols. Your way would actually be best, because in a Mensa test you’re hit by many questions so you need to be pretty quick. 😊 Thank you John 🎉

Maestrini Brass Reducing Nipple (3/4" BSP Male to 1/2" BSP Male) plus a 1/2 bsp female to 1/2 bsp female adaptor. Use a bit of jointing compound, or ptfe tape, connecting this lot together. Hope you have room for all this! 😂 (if you can find a 1/2 bsp female to 3/4 bsp male adaptor, which would be ideal , then let me know where you can get such a thing please?)

Whats the symbol next to the time?
@JohnJoss12 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, On the dashboard clock there is a little gear-knob symbol to the left of the time. To the left of that there appears an arrow pointing upwards, when it thinks you ought to be changing up, and pointing downwards, when it thinks that you ought to be changing down. Yeah, I wondered myself when we first got the car. Then it annoyed me because I really didn't agree with when it said to change up or down and now i just completely ignore it 😂

Hi Martin. Thanks for your comment. The spanner I'm talking about in the Video is supposed to be 32mm, that's correct. So it DOES fit the main nuts on the bath tap just fine, in most cases. What the video is all about is just a little tweak that you can make, to make the SAME spanner fit the nut on the tap tails AS WELL. 🙂
