Hi! Does the tank really need a so big water change ,with two FX6 running? More than 50 per cent... And How about the PH and GH, seems that your tap PH is the same of the aquarium...

I LOVE my Leleupi Lemon Cichlid in my 20Gal Tank with their babies that spawned last October 2023. And I am glad I got a hold of a 20Hal Hexagon Tank to let these BABIES grow out. Until now they are a treat to look at and the way they change color and get darker. Hope your baby físhys grow big and not get sucked up into your filter!

Absolutely Beautiful Aquariums & this is Testimony to this Girls Knowledge, Kaity seems to have the Right & Correct Attitude. I agree with One comment on that their is nothing better than coming home from what could be a noisy Work environment as mine can be at times & to just sit & enjoy that Silence & the Relaxation that comes with it. Sitting there with a cup of hot chocolate before bed seems like the ideal place to be in ones own mind. Fantastic Stuff by Kaity & I hope she has plenty of Success in that She Does. Many Regards John

Kaity great job and video! As you learn the tricks of raising fry I am sure you will read many useful tips from all your subscribers. A few tips that work for me is siphoning with an aquarium depth rigid tubing attached to some flexible airline and a small shut off valve at the end. Works well for cleaning debris and moving the fry. You can control the flow precisely by using gravity to back flow by raising/lowering the siphoning line in a plastic container. Another tip is using snails as your aquarium cleaners. Algae isn’t such a problem when they are eating it constantly. All the Best! Dave

Does this food de-crease your fish’s life span or is it unhealthy in anyway?I’m not trying to breed cichlids but I just want to make sure that it’s okay to feed them with any major consequences. there’s a shop that sells this stuff near where I live and I really want to try and colour up my fish.
@Kaityscichlids5 күн бұрын
I honestly can't say for sure, I tried to look into it before I started feeding it and couldn't find any information. The ingredients in it aren't very nutritious though so I would always make sure you feed it with another good quality food regardless

What in the world You need to remove the female from the tank when she has the fry in her mouth The eggs were not in the cave they were in the mothers mouth until they hatched Then she carries the fry in her mouth till the pressure from the school of fish becomes to much and she spits them out Remove the mother with fry in her mouth before that happens

Kaity Fry. I'll Fry them for you, Drop an Electrical device into the tank & Zap. (Of course I am only Joking). They are so Small how do you Differentiate them from just particles of sand. Incredible stuff. Your Quarantine Tank looks Perfect for what your doing. Classy Act as well with your Narration of what you are doing. I see the shelf system is far more settled now. Have Fun. Regards John.

Do you notice a clarity difference between the two tanks? I kno the new tank is technically made for salt water so the glass may be a bit thicker than the clear?

Viel Glück mit dem Nachwuchs! 🍀Für den Anfang, wenn die Jungen noch so klein sind, solltest du sie besser in einen kleineren Behälter setzen, so dass sie voll "im Futter stehen" können. 😉

Love the fact that you have taken the time to run through your process, and your tank looks great (I may well move into Mbuna's myself). Im running a 500 ltr tank with the same FX6, but when I come to water changes I let the FX6 do most of the work for me. I have one long hose conected to the purge valve, this runs out into a garden water tank (we use the water on the garden plants). I then turn off the power, close the 'output' valve then turn the power back on, and run the filter until approx a quarter to a third of the water has been drained. Turn off the power and close the purge valve. Changing the hose to a shorter one I place a 30 ltr plasteres bucket next to the filter, fill the bucket with 30 ltrs of treated water, adjust the output valve to just less than 50%, fully close the input valve, turn the power back on and the pump re-fills the tank for me, while I keep the bucket topped up. Cleaning the filter (approx every 2 months), Im doing much the same as you, but I drain the filter using the big hose to outdoors. I cut large pond filter panels to create my internal sponges, but I sandwich a coarse and a medium together in all 6 spaces in the three trays with bio medium through the centre and pads top centre. Refitting the filter, I simply re-attach the input hose and gravity fill the FX6 from the tank, and again re-fill the tank as above once the filter is full.. This filter certainly saves me a lot of humping about with buckets, syphones and steps!!!

Off topic for the video, Kaity, and I don't know if you broach it somewhere in one of your other videos, but how did you get Leila so tame? I have two (male) Pacific Parrotlets and they're not tame. Both bought in a store. Maybe Leila is a handfed baby you got privately? She's so cute, I always hope to see more of her (are we sure it's a female?) but I understand this is a fish-channel so to speak. Anyway, greetings from Sweden...👋
@Kaityscichlids7 күн бұрын
She was hand-fed and raised by my Aunty before I got her which definitely helped, and my Aunty said Laila's personality was quite confident. She has laid an egg before so she's definitely a girl. The other thing my Aunty mentioned is that if you get one Parrotlet they're more likely to bond to you whereas if you have two they're more likely to bond to each other. I'm always happy to answer questions about little Laila and definitely show more of her :p

Congratulations on the fry……..I keep the mbuna variety of cichlids so babies in the tank are not uncommon. Hybrid mbuna are a huge problem in pet stores in the USA so I do nothing and let them become snacks for the adults.

With your pond fish, if you were losing your ricefish one at a time, I would have said your swordtails were taking them out as there was a significant size difference between your swordtails and ricefish. But losing 7 ricefish and a swordtail at the same time would suggest an environmental issue like water parameters or disease. Maybe test the water with your test kit. Check amongst the rocks as you may find your missing fish but I have found with smaller fish the bodies can melt away quickly.
