G'day Matt. Subscribed. Nice clear explanation of SCV. I'm an old school retired diesel mech with too much time on 6V53 GM's in armoured personnel carriers, so ultra high pressure systems are "new school" in my head. My son has acquired an '05 KUN26 with 1KD-FTV. It still has the shorty SCV so I intend to replace it regardless. Question. I'm chasing a very intermittent limp home mode. Only twice in 11months in fact. Once at hwy speed hard acceleration 4th up hill and once when dropping a gear in soft sand, so both wide open throttle + high RPM instances. I suspect ECU is trying to compensate for fluctuation target pressure and throws limp mode. Drove home once in limp home and prolonged shut down (beach) reset with no further occurrence. Thoughts? Thanks in advance. Dick Friday

@@rfriday2651 thanks for the kind comments and subscription. Re your fault codes, I'd need an idea of the code number in order to give a reasonable response. @dieselGeeksOz can you use 18 code injectors in place of 11 or 13. Will I have to replace injector driver aswell or will the ecu not read the later model injector correctly? I have 2013 hilux I will be putting +30 injectors in and the originals are still fine. & a 2006 hilux with 300,000 on original injectors which needs new injectors. Any help would be much appreciated Cheers, Will

@@TristanWhite-n5x generally, the lower gears (1, 2, 3) usually have more smoke as the turbo struggles to keep pace with the rapid engine acceleration. But it is an indication that something is starting to become an issue. As a guess, I'd have the intake manifold inspected for carbon build up and then go from there.

does it matter if you pull out injecters that are say code 11 and replace with code 18?
@DieselGeeksOz27 күн бұрын
@@cheezus1098 yes. Basically 11 code and 13 code injectors are very similar, but the use of alternates means you cannot code. 18 code injectors flow around 15% more in the top end and more like 80% more at pilot fuels. For this reason, 18 codes aren't ideal to swap for the others. Of course if you're tuning, or coding to suit the ecu, then everything is different.

Have a look around the reviews, spend a few hundred dollars, learn where to place it for best results. No background music underneath speech, unless you are an audio wizard extraordinaire. Almost nobody knows how to do this properly, so just don't do it. Because of the music, I couldn't understand what you were saying, I couldn't be bothered with captions, so had to cut it short. What sort of noises can these make? I’ve got a noisy 1KD, a loud hum I can hear through the cab when it’s warm. When I put my stethoscope on and start hunting around it sounds like it’s coming from the back of the fuel pump. I’ve got no performance loss, it’s juicy I guess - like 500-550km to a tank. But it’s not sputtering. It’s an early 1KD, euro 3, so they’re known for being a little on the rattley side when they’re cold. Last time injectors were checked the feedback values were fine. 250k on it, hoping to not have to replace the whole pump.

Many of the D40's getting around blowing black smoke are simply down on boost pressure from neglect (dirty air filter / split hot-side intake hoses / dirty intercooler core / holes in the boost control vacuum lines (early models) etc etc. Restoring the factory boost pressure (actual delivered boost) fixes the poor combustion & smoke. One of the simplest & most important things to fit to your Nav is a boost gauge! If you see boost not being delivered, you will get black smoke because of incomplete combustion and/or poor AFR. Many owners drive around for ages without realising the boost pressure at the manifold is low.

I was going to comment on how there's at least 3 diesel engines in Navaras - ZD30, YD25 & YS23. Then I noticed that the title is '2024 version'. Fair enough. It does look like they share some common parts but I assume the 2.3l is quite different as its a Nissan/Renault engine, not just Nissan. I have a Patrol with the ZD30 so this isn't all relevant to me. I've had the EGR valve off fairly recently when I did the injectors and a carbon clean and it was closed so at least it isn't mechanically stuck open. Still get a bit of soot but I know I have a valve on cyl. 4 out of spec, so that may be the cause.

Can injector cleaner fix it ?
@DieselGeeksOz9 ай бұрын
Depends on the issue. IF its a EGR failure or split intake pipe for example, its like throwing a shot glass at a bush fire. Nothing doing. It can help however if you've had an issue which was causing the engine to soot. This soot - even if you've now fixed the root cause, will have 'carboned' up the engine. Removing this carbon will help. Some injector cleaners are good for this, as is a hydrogen based carbon clean.
