I've seen worse operating all weather lifeboats in the RNLI.

I was on this ship when it caught fire. My cabin was not affected and I stayed on two more days before they had a flight. I talked to crew and fire crew that said that it was caused by some teenagers having a party and lighting kamakazi drinks and throwing them off the balcony and landing in the lower balconies.

Hey shorex, do you have an email address we can use to contact you regarding your Huge Wave hits cruise ship video? I'd love to discuss a license to use it if possible! Cheers, Felix

I was stationed on a Coast Guard High Endurance Cutter in the late 70s. Bridge was 30 feet above water (usually LOL). During an October storm in the Bering Sea near the Pribilof Islands, we took green water over the bow that tore off life line stanchions, bow flag stanchion, the gun turret basket antenna (welded to top of gun house), port and starboard whip antennas, and bashed in a front bridge window. This was my first patrol so I learned all about why there were hand holds on all of the overheads and boot tracks on the bulkheads LOL.

My dude said... "Alright... here we go...." BANG (LIKE A THUNDER CLAP OR MAJOR EXPLOSION) Then is totally freaked out over it. Well dude... what he hell was the warning for if you failed to prepare? Lol. So when pilots land an aircraft a little to hard their crew can say, "Sorry folks... it wasn't the Captains fault, it was the asphalt." What will crew, deck hands, 1st mates say after hitting rough waves or waves like this? "Sorry folks... it wasn't the Captain's fault. I promise... he's completely sober. It's the ship that's drunk... and a little hung over."

Why didn’t the cruise ship hit the wave? Why is the wave the aggressor in its own home? We humans are so invasive it’s disgusting

This ship took me on 3 cruises. One up the New England coast into Canada, one to Alaska, and finally after this fire it took me in 2010 all the way down to Antarctica. I have a deep fondness for this ship; it has given me glimpses of places I never dreamed I could go to.

At 0:30 the most forward portion of the bow is out of the water. Fifty-plus inch smart TV plus really powerful sound system recommended to fully appreciate this moment!

﴿ ترجمة: وإذا مسكم الضر في البحر ضل من تدعون إلا إياه فلما نجاكم ﴾ And when harm touches you upon the sea, those that you call upon besides Him vanish from you except Him (Allah Alone). But when He brings you safely to land, you turn away (from Him). And man is ever ungrateful. English - Sahih International And when adversity touches you at sea, lost are [all] those you invoke except for Him. But when He delivers you to the land, you turn away [from Him]. And ever is man ungrateful.
