The ae1 has auto exposure it should tell you inside the viewfinder what the proper aperture should be for you to expose the picture correctly

Some gear I chose to marry: my 6D is one, the EOS R is another. Been shooting with the 6D since 2013. Love the image quality. Both cameras have a very special place in the Canon line up.

When shooting at slower shutter speeds it helps to take a breath in and push the shutter button slowly. You did the right thing by trying at 1/30 of a second. Worst thing that can happen is the photo will be blurry. The only way to learn photography is to try different things.

Nice to see a young person experiencing to pleasures and frustration of film and the cameras. Puzzled by use of light meter app when the camera has a very good one. Maybe camera meter doesn’t work?

As an old timer who shot film for 35 years, this was fun to watch! My first experience with photography was in 4th grade. We made a pinhole camera out of an oatmeal box. I remember my wonder at watching my image appear in the developer.

When using your speed booster with, say, a 50mm Super Takumar, what do you set your manual lens selection to in your manual lens menu? I'd think 35mm as it's 50 x .71 and that's what the sensor would see. But do tell. Thank you.

You and I have been down many of the same information holes. Nice work! Twice in the beginning you mentioned the word "stole" or "stolen" and it's important to note that everything taken was classified as legal war reparations. In fact, the Germans treated the Russians with such cruelty in WWII that the Zeiss engineers that "volunteered" to go to Russia along with their families and "share" their optical knowledge had to be permanently segregated for their safety.
