Serizawa killed himself in order for the design for the oxygen destroyer not to fall into the wrong hands. He destroyed the paperwork that showed how he made it, and in the end destroyed the creator, himself, in order for it not to fall into the wrong hands and be used for evil purposes.

The original and the best. I will always take THIS one over any of the subsequent movies - either those silly kiddie-oriented ""Vrs"" films or some overblown post 2000 Hollywood cgi orgy.

Dunno if you found this out yet or if you still are looking at the comments but here's an answer to your question: Originally, the original treatment was a King Kong vs Frankenstein(later titled King Kong vs Prometheus) written by Willis O'brien himself. John Beck sort of...grabbed, pushed O'brien out of the picture, tried to sell it to Hollywood before taking it to TOHO, who was excited because some who worked on KKvG had a love for the original 1933 King Kong. They decided to preplace Frankenstein with Godzilla and gave Kong electricity powers. They gave it to him to both try and get Kong on par with Godzilla and to reference Frankenstein I think.

The song "Prayer for Peace" that plays during the conflict with Ogata, Emiko and Serizawa about the Oxygen Destroyer is very powerful. It is extremely difficult to not cry from seeing those scenes of destruction, dead loved ones, and those adults carried away from their kids is so emotional. I cry almost every time I watch that scene.

not a spino at 8:07 but you're close Baryonyx (barry-onix) - relative of Spinosaurus the from UK with an oversized hand claw. Spino was actually meant to be who the T-Rex fought during the volcanic eruption in a sort of rematch, before it got changed to the Carnotaurus (devil horned dino). And the "baby T-Rex" at 9:37 is Allosaurus...unrelated dino that lived way earlier. Basically the T-Rex equivalent of the Jurassic.

4:10 - that is indeed Dr Serizawa's son pretty much his entire character got cut from the movie sadly, we only know about his backstory from the official novelisation Serizawa was obsessed with Godzilla to the point of neglecting his own son, and now Ren is taking out his daddy abandonment issues on Godzilla through *Mechagodzilla*

Hi LuLu OTM. So, in rewatching this video (yes, I do actually RE-watch some reaction videos) I noticed something I missed the first time around. It was when you said something like "I think Gollum's actually gay....." and I don't remember the rest clearly enough to quote it precisely. Anyway, first let me say as a gay man that I wasn't at all offended by the comment. It was clear it was a joke and I thought it was at least a mildly funny one, so I'm not attacking you for it. But it did set off a train of thought. I have no idea what Tolkien's opinions on homosexuality were. Given the age in which he was born and raised and the fact that he was (I believe) a practicing Catholic, I think there's a fair chance that he would have been disapproving (although I would be pleased to learn that I am wrong). There is a fairly long tradition in literature and - since their invention - movies of "other-izing" LGBT characters. By that, I mean making them seem strange, bizarre, "not one of us". It had never occurred to me until I heard your comment that Tolkien may well have been - whether consciously or not - doing that with Gollum. Anyway, it's not a "discovery" of any sort, but just an interesting possibility. I wanted to add, that at least within the context of the books, Tolkien never explains why Gollum uses "us" and "we" when referring to himself. There is a scene in "The Fellowship" (book) where Gandalf tells Frodo the story of how Smeagol/Gollum got the ring. This is pretty much identical to the scene at the beginning of "The Return of..." (movie version). However it's worth noting that what we see in ROTK movie is something we're seeing "first-hand". In that version Gollum already uses the first person plural when referring to himself. In "Fellowship" book, Gandalf is retelling the story as it was told to him by Gollum, including the bits of dialogue between Smeagol and his cousin Deagol, and in the dialogue Smeagol is already using first person plural . HOWEVER, since GOLLUM told the story to Gandalf, he may have simply changed the pronouns to the way he now talks. My own theory has always been that he uses we/us because he possessed the ring for so long and it so possessed HIM that he sees himself as inseparable from it so "we" is Gollum and the ring. If you managed to read all of this, my hat's off to you. What can I say? The Lord of the Rings is important to me and has been for 45 years. Best wishes to you and keep up the good work.
