Ciaccona ist ein bewegter Tanz mit etwas verschärften punktiertem Rhythmen, das Tempo wenig verändert. Die Busonitranskription ist ein spätromantisches Falsifikat.

I am a 81 yr pianist and Alicia dela Rocha was and always be my best artist model to admire and Inspire until the day I die!! I am playing El puerto as well in my recital sept 1. She will be in my soul forever to admire. I did meet her in Lincoln center many years ago. And had her sign my villa lobos collection book. My spirit will connect with her and hope to receive her blessings when I play el puerto and villa lobos Brasileira as well. She is n always the Best pianist in my opinion !!! Perhaps the finest pianist of the 1950s - 1990s. I had the pleasure of hearing her in concert several times. Her touch and body of sound were unique. And she was not only a great musician of Spanish music, but also Bach, Haydn, Schumann, Chopin ans so on. Thanks to Fans of Alicia de Larrocha for this. Do you have more for us, please.

Recomiendo a todos los pianistas, incluyendo a los más endiosados, que no interpreten esta obra maestra de Albéniz, no van a poder acercarse ni de lejos a la calidad de Alicia y con toda seguridad, no van a hacer más que el ridículo.

No one plays this heavenly gem the way de Larrocha does. Granted, she romanticizes it but when the Sisyphean cantabile melody reaches into the higher notes, she creates an emphatic crescendo that is incredibly moving.

Maximum expressiveness without a hint of vulgarity. And that amazing adherence to pulse without being mechanic, allowing a bit of leeway here and there. What a pianist!

Her tone is so pure, warm and beautiful. She is famous for Spanish piano pieces, but when you listen to her Mozart, you can say that she is a Mozart specialist more than any other pianists.
