Thanks 86. My key works on the drivers side and ignition, but will only lock the passenger door, won’t unlock it. I’m thinking something might be jammed in the cylinder, gonna pull it out and have a look at it.

Need help... through a bit of confusion separating the air horn and body, I removed the fast idle cam shaft to make the disassembly easier. Bad idea, because after reassembly I still had a mystery spring, round and black-ish in color with about a 10mm diameter and I can't figure out where it goes. The shaft for the fast idle cam is the only one narrow enough for this spring to fit on, but there seems not be enough room for it. Have you ever encountered this spring? There seems not to be an exploded diagram of this shaft and its components, to see if this mystery spring belongs on it. Thank you! And AWESOME videos, BTW. I wish I had found them earlier....

Next time, try a freshly cut key from the key code for your vehicle and it might actually remedy your problem with the wafers sticking up. The key you're using seems to be worn and that is maybe a reason why it wasn't pushing down on the wafers that needed to go down. Just a thought.

I have a float bowl drain problem as well but I’m not sure exactly what it is I think that metering rod is not adjusted and letting fuel go down into that brass port underr that plastic peace in the center I tried removing the brass port but the slot strip and weirdly enough it was slightly loose but I couldn’t remove it I have another carb and I got that one out but I don’t know how I’m gonna remove the one that’s still in there without totally destroying it and getting brass shavings everywhere I guess I can tap it with a small chisel hopefully I won’t crack anything 😂🤞

I wish this video was more complete. Do you have any footage that shows how you got to the point where this video starts? I'm struggling with the cover plate on my lock... it isn't allowing me to get ANYTHING under it, so it won't even start to come off. I really wish you would have shown that part... the information in this video is absolutely useless without that step of the process. If I ever do get into this thing, I will also need to know how to crimp that piece back on. This incomplete video is not helpful.

Other commenters are correct, filling the top or bottom of a wafer only make more keys fit the lock. 50% chance you can file inside the rectangular cutout where the key contacts the wafer if the wafer code is smaller than the key flat code, i.e. the original key is narrower at that flat than the new key. But 50% it's a larger code and this won't work. Better to just buy a replacement wafer kit. Cheap and perfect fix.

Yeah of all the videos you did the best in making remember how easy these carbs are. Haven't done one in almost 30yrs. But watching you simplify the basics like I did them so long ago. I knew how it was running that it was just a couple curtain parts messing up. But wasn't as confident as I was 30yrs ago to dig into it. Even though this would be like my 10th one. Think got older and lost that edge. Not to mention definitely not as many spare parts around compared to my days. When my goal in life was to run these suckers into the ground. Been through 14 of them. And couldn't killm and trust me I tried. But only ones ever made me walk and that was only 2 blocks when chain broke I went from building camaro's when I was 16. To yotas at 18 when I found out was gonna be a daddy and have had atleast 1 ever since. Sadly their almost gone. And this is my last 22r my fave. I've always said these engines are just chevy 350 cut in half. And these carbs are just quadrajunks basic. But thanks great video Peace

I may have found the pesky Asian carb float bowl draining over nite problem....I removed carb, filled float bowl through the vent hose to proper level and worked both accel pumps...the next morning I found fuel leaking out the vacuum hook up for the auxiliary accel pump. Seems there is a pin hole or defect in my new pump diaphragm....Ive been chasing this problem for years and hope Ive found it....at least the fuel is not going down the manifold but is getting in the vacuum line and sucked into the motor. If it still drains I will have to go back to filling the float bowl through the vent line every morning to avoid long cranking when cold.....

And if you don't like opening up a little can of worms or box of worms... You can buy a new TOYO 505 round plug carb for less than 100 bucks shipped on eBay or Amazon.... They also have the grey square plug version.

Common mistake. You’re using pod filters witch the bike won’t run right with. The ninja 500 needs the air box to have enough back pressure to run correctly. Trust me my 500 had 2x the power when I put my air box in. You will not regret putting it back on !

I HAVE A RED 1983 TOYOTA DIESEL , AND MY ENGINE WAS REBUILT , I LET OTHER PEOPLE DO THE HEAD WORK AND SOMEONE ELSE TO INSTALL NEW SLEEVES . AND AN OLD GUY TO PUT IT ALL TOGETHER , NEW INJECTORS , NEW EVERYTHING , $5,000 IN PARTS , BUT IT NEVER RAN RIGHT AND POURS OUT THE SMOKE . I WAS HOPING YOU WERE GOING TO SHOW THE VALVE TIMING OF THE CAM . I THINK THE TIMING MUST BE OFF .

This worked for me too. I did all my keys as none of the key hole accepted my old key (only the ignition key hole worked). Went to the dealer to get a fresh cut key to my vin ($19) and rekeyed each door and ignition using a bench wheel grinder instead of a file (much faster), polished the wafer pin and the shear line and washed the filing off with WD-40. This video saved me some bucks.... BTW, my way can only work if you have small high spots. Thanks man
