I was there at the N.F.R. in 1999. Saw round 9. Witnessed Joe Beaver blow out his knee dismounting during calf roping. Witnessed many great rides including Ty not in hurry Murray. Also a lot of great runs in the timed events. Still have my ticket stub. Someday I will make me a rodeo scrap book. Have been attending rodeos since I was 14, & I'm 63 now. I attended 9 rodeos in one year. Have been to the Oakdale Ca. P.R.C.A. rodeo every year except about 5. Yeehaaaaaw!

My dad used to say one of the most magnificent creatures on earth is a wild bucking horse that refuses any rider. Until a little POA he was working with for my sister just strolled over to a corral fence post and shoved his leg into it breaking it in enough places to have to pin it the length of the Femur. Sneaky little POA made me appreciate not riding until riding a half Thoroughbred, half Tennessee Walker Gelding that loped smooooth as a Cadillac all day long. I didn't want to put him up but my GF made me 'cause it was her dad's.

At least in the rodeos they know that you’re riding the Bull and the bull is a natural aggressor and will do everything in its power to bump you off. It’s not the bulls fault, it’s the price riders pay sometimes with their injuries unfortunately. The bill fighters that kill the bulls that are only doing what’s natural are a bunch of assholes.

Lostroh was my favorite PBR rider back then. He got 13 ninety-point rides in 2009. It took 8 years after that for someone to get ten, and that was Jess Lockwood in '17. Unfortunately Kody seemed to have rather delicate joints in his riding arm and shoulder, and once they got badly torn up even after surgery and healing, he wasn't able to do so well. But up til then - amazing. The '09 finals were incredible and went right up til the last ride to see who'd be champion. He was.

It happens way before 60 they only rodeo on average till about 30 to 35 years old because of phyisical health issues. I no guys that didnt ride bulls or horse butt timed event guys that had totanium hips broken and missing fingers from ropeing .its a very fun addicting life but it comes at a cost
