I am not happy that the on wall controller took away the motion sensor, and the other options, TTC, Clock, Temp, Lock, etc. Instead of making it better like my old HD930, they take away, I am wondering if there is a way to bring these back.

Same thing happened with my 20 year old Craftsman opener. I have tape holding the cover on. Gives it a good do it yourself look!

I think one of the things that should be addressed when measuring spring length is in my case when it’s been up there for 20 years and finally dies that spring is shrunk. It’s dead. There is no more spring in the spring so it’s shorter by several inches. Anyway, I I brought it to one of the construction sites I was on and the door guy there told me what I had gave me what I needed then he came over and installed it for me for pizza and beer 😊

Really considering this unit in my new house, a detail I can’t find anywhere is whether or not this model (or the LiftMaster counterpart) support the HomeLink feature found in most cars these days, this negates the need for multiple remotes if so.

Thanks so much for breaking down what you should be looking for! This information and the scorecard could have helped prevent my door from breaking a few months ago and I feel much more confident on what I'm looking for to help maintain the door now.

I'm replacing an old Craftsman 3/4 hp that lasted 20 years. It seems like these new ones have way more geegaws that can go wrong. On the outside, it would be nice to connect via wifi to know if the door is open/closed, and to close it if needed. To me, flagship means robust dependable, quiet operation. Video, especially when battery operated adds a level of complexity/subscriptions/ etc. I would rather put into a home security system. BTW, an old fashioned keypad is a great feature if you go out on your bike and don't have your phone with you. Thanks for showing its true colors.

Thanks if you think that first guys solution was something mine is totally worst. I did install the proper struts on 3 of the four panels tomorrow I'm putting on one more. My door has been put through H###. I'll bet it's one of the worst ones out there, but it still works. If and when I get a new one I'll be buying the same brand Clopay. Thanks again for the video great info. When I picked up my strut they had to go look for it so yep I was eyeing the 10 ft metal studs. They found the strut luckily.

Looking at the Black Friday Home Depot Ad in the video, you guys have a different deal then what we had in the Northeast. You guys are in California..thus you guys have the mandatory Battery back up. The deal we had in the Northeast was for either a Chamberlain or Genie 1/2 HP belt drive for $99.00. I actually bought the Genie one originally and returned it for the Chamberlain. The Chamberlain had a battery back up vs the Genie did not. Chamberlain was the model B2202T, I don’t recall the Genie model.

It's amazing how all the garage door guys on yt talk very technical. An yet all the guys I've met in real life are drunken chooches and my doors operate absolutely fine for more than a decade. Turns out being over qualified doesn't result in a better quality of outcome.

Well that is a long way to just say “money” and not give details. Actively working to break functionality that you sold to the customers is not a good move. Having a full page ad pop up in your app when I am trying to open my garage door is also not helpful. I am very close to replacing my chamberlain because of how hostile they have become to users. I would NOT compare them to Apple. Apple has their walled garden, but they didn’t disable jpg support when they came out with a new image format.

Thats such a weird break 🤔. Ive aeen where the limit takes that "bullet" clear around the front pulley. Typically that will bend the bolt a little for evidence that the limit clearly didnt stop. However, in your video it looks like a clean break. Thats a weird one my friend. Great content!

Just had the genie 2055 LO installed. Replacing a liftmaster that we had since 2006. The genie will work fine for 4-5 days then I have to reprogram the travel limits and force control and all the openers, all over again. This has happened twice now. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Had one installed, worked flawlessly for 2 months. Wall button started to give me grief and wouldn’t open or close the door unless held for several seconds. Motion sensor light began intermittently working. Remote lockout would turn itself off after about 15 minutes and got to a point where the remotes worked even when the lock was enabled. Wall control was replaced did not fix the issues. New unit being ordered lift master helpline said the logic board failed.

If your cables tangle, there's a very high chance you should just replace them as they'll probably be damaged enough to make them jump off the pulley.

I've had more trouble with Clopay. Their customer service is also sub-par so it makes it harder to deal with them. I've migrated towards CHI more and I still prefer them over Clopay any day. Yes, we still receive some damaged panels here and there, but they are waaaay ahead of Clopay. Plus their doors are built better in more ways.

I'm an orthopedic surgery xray tech and learned my adroit carpentry from some of the best orthopedic surgeons in the world; some drops of glue here and there, pounding rods and screws at hand at any angle according to their length. The two car garage door suffered damage from many hurricanes over the years but the homeowner decided to invest their insurance allotment rather than replacing the door. It finally sagged to the point of compromised powered operation. They had some 10 foot 2×2s handy so I strategically utilized two. It did the job and took the bowing completely out of the door. The spring is newer on the door so its K value should hold for years of fun of ups and downs. 2-10 foot 2x2s, 2 vice straighten L brackets and 5 screws and it will last a lifetime, as the homeowners are well into their 90s. They're happy and so am I. $Quality$ is job #1. Safety--who needs it--got live on the edge in these days of inflation vs return on an invested buck. Besides, their priest is coming soon to bless their home to withstand the next hurricane.

Well I'll throw my scenario out there: I have a 7'x16' 25ga metal insulated w/vynal backing, no windows garage door that was installed in the mid to late'90's, so they're pushing 25yrs old. There is no data sticker on it unless its behind the insulation, dont know what brand it is.I haven't weighed it yet but here's the old springs(2) specs(they haven't broke yet) but don't hold the door up at all (won't balance falls to ground) and the liftmaster motor strains somewhat to lift it.Has Yellow bands .207 x 2 x 22.5, length was measured with the springs still wound up so they are pretty short springs.Has a 12" radius track curve. I dont know what new springs to buy for this, any suggestions?

Us customers must tell all manufacturers that if they don't play well with others we're not going to buy their products. Lift Master has customer hit line were we can call in and simply say. "I'm not purchasing your products because you removed Alexa, Google, Home Kit integration."

I fix a lot in my house, and Ive done some minor garage door repairs. I adjust and lubricate my two doors spring and fall. Tighten things, etc. I test the spring by opening the door manually and see if it easy to lift and hangs up half way down. if the spring is screwed, I will never replace it myself. Do it wrong, and it can explode and kill you. But hey, have at it

Was good walk through with your list. 👍 At the beginning, I thought you had fooled us and perhaps green screened the garage door background, 😂. That garage was soo clean, then the mural or screen (golf simulator?) on the side, I can barely find a spot to hang a tool, let alone have a full wall display in my garage, but then I don't know any millionaires either. 🤣
