I strongly steer clear of MyQ, as an ecosystem, because of stuff like this. They refuse to integrate with readily-available systems like Google, Apple, and Amazon, and they charge for a lot of things that should be entirely free. A lot of stuff can only be done within their app, and you have no control over settings that should be under your control. I replaced all my MyQ stuff with open style ecosystems and I couldn't be happier. I would have loved if the video highlighted things like RATGDO and OpenGarage, which are simple plug-ins that make your garage door opener accessible on the network but have completely free ecosystems that you can integrate with basically anything.

MyQ and it's parent company LiftMaster/Chamberlain pulled the rug out from under their customers awhile back. It's best to steer clear from companies who practice planned obsolescence otherwise you could end up with a paper weight.

Just bought the Liftmaster 889LM out of necessity since my 2009 wall controller just died. Do you recommend a power door lock? I’m buying one for my door opener. Are there any theft prevention measures we should be taking for door openers vs overhead openers? I’ve seen videos where some recommended a pool noodle to prevent thieves from fishing the release handle.

@@sosgdsOwn the 3800 Liftmaster 2009 with option for door lock 41A6102 but since it’s discontinued the 841ML may work. Also the myQ app and remotes work fine but the original wall controller failed.

@@MrJFunk your best bet will be the automatic garage door lock. But I'm not 100% sure the 841 LM will work.

fyi they have a hard wire kit for the keypad MYQ-KH1VXXW but honestly anothe $40 is ridiculous and should have been included
