American Navy didn't want to kill people they just wanted to cripple Iran's ability to fight on the water. This is why they warned them before attacking. It is quite common for us to warn first cause we don't want to hurt people we just want to take out the ability to fight back. Harpoon missiles are anti ship missiles. They are called harpoons after the harpoons used to hunt fish and whales.

Most US allies have been freeloading on US security for decades. The last 5 presidents all asked nicely for Europe to spend more, and they simply refused. That is why Trump has to be tougher and make threats. It is true Poland is spending a lot for defense and that is great, if all of Europe spent the same percent as Poland we would have no problems. But most are not. Even after 3 years of war in Ukraine about 8-10 European NATO countries still aren't even meeting agreed spending on defense! Of course everyone likes America when we are suckers and paying for almost everything, but then to get mad when asked to do their part is crazy. Just because America has lots of rich people an companies, does not mean the average American is rich and can pay to defend the whole world.
@crescent49962 сағат бұрын
Americans appreciate allies sending troops in conflicts after 9/11, but that doesn't mean they can just forever fail to do their part in the alliance from then on. Also note that most allies sent a few hundred or a couple thousand troops at most in those conflicts - a tiny fraction of America's forces. Now consider a full war in Europe, US would be expected to send 100s of thousands of soldiers - like we already did in 2 World Wars. If we are to commit to that, every member of NATO must pull their weight!

When Denmark fell during WW2, the US seized control of Greenland because of its strategic importance to shipping lanes and its location to US mainland. "The 1951 Defense of Greenland Agreement. This agreement empowers the U.S. to significantly influence and potentially control this strategically vital territory, making a compelling case for action that Congress and diplomats cannot ignore. As global competition intensifies and the Arctic emerges as a critical geopolitical battleground, the United States must assert greater control over Greenland to safeguard its national security interests. Arctic Security: Greenland’s location makes it an ideal base for monitoring and responding to activities in the Arctic region. The island’s proximity to North America - just a few hours’ flight from major U.S. cities - underscores its critical role in homeland defense. Resource Control: Greenland’s rare earth mineral deposits are of particular interest to the United States, especially given concerns about Chinese dominance in this sector. The ability to secure these resources could be framed as a matter of national security." Wall Street Journal 28 December 2024

I studied in Scotland, I got off at the airport, got into a bus, opened my mouth to the bus driver and spent the rest of the journey crying 😂 nothing could've prepared me for that nightmare of an accent. His is thick, but it's like you say, it clicks after a while. But then it's also some slang and just different words, when you have to learn most of the language off the Internet that can be hard too. And what we're taught at schools is actually more American when it comes to the wordchoice, pronunciation etc, even though we primarily learn British spelling. I've just realised this now, it's a bit a weird, but I think it's just because of what the teachers know themselves
@RealDiehl995 сағат бұрын
@WW-Reactions I am sorry to hear that. It must have been very stressful. I can't even imagine. Curious...how greatly do accents in Poland vary? Besides regional differences,do they also vary according to factors like economic status and/or level of education as well? It makes sense that teachers would teach the language in the way with which they are most familiar. For example, in high school I studied Spanish for a few years. The Spanish 'J' was pronounced like the English 'H'. The Spanish 'LL' was pronounced like the English 'Y'. When I elected to take a Spanish class in college my teacher was from Argentina. She pronounce both the 'J' and 'LL' the same way I'd pronounce the 'G' in the word, 'massage'.

Theodore 'Teddy' Roosevelt was a war hero during the Spanish-American War. He had been a cavalry officer that led the "Rough Riders" a famous volunteer cavalry unit. He had been president from 1901 to 1909. Theodore was also awarded the 'Medal of Honor' posthumously for his actions at the Battle of San Juan Hill. He was a distant cousin (fifth cousin) to Franklin D. Roosevelt who was president from 1933 to 1945.

Theodore Roosevelt was a very flamboyant American and president and did quite a few things. The term "Teddy Bear" was partially inspired from a hunting incident with Roosevelt refusing to shoot a bear that had been tied up for him to shoot. During the Spanish American war he fought as a Calvary man in Cuba. As president he started our National Park system, brokered a peace treaty between Russia and Japan for which he won the Noble Peace prize. There was an assassination attempt on him during campaign trip. He was saved by the bullet passing through the papers of his speech and hitting a rib. Roosevelt determined that even though we was bleeding he wasn't coughing up bleed so the wound wasn't serious. He went on to give a 90 minute while still bleeding from his wound before going to the hospital to be treated. He got America started on the building of the Panama canal. He espoused a political belief of "Talk Softly but Carry a Big Stick". Which I interpret as it's ok to be big and powerful but don't go around throwing it in everyone's face. Roosevelt was a shameless hunter and spent a lot of time and money pursuing that past time. One of his sons was the commanding general of first army division to land on Utah Beach during WWII. I'm not 100% sure why he is on Mount Rushmore but something to do with conservation and anti monopoly work during his presidency.

You have no idea about the things going on here in the US... there are things we the people are just now learning and just how corrupt the left has been in destroying our country. And no, the US has been given unfair trade deals by the majority of other countries in the world. We have HUGE trade deficits with just about every country we trade with... the US gives and gives and gives and still other countries complain about the US. It's like other countries are sucking us dry. Do you know that the US subsidizes Canda 200-250 BILLION dollars A YEAR? And Canada would rather have a tariff war... if we didn't give them the BILLIONS of dollars Canada would be a failed nation. At this point, all Trump asked them to do is take care of the border, because people from all over the world are illegally entering the US through the Canadian border and to stop the fentanyl from coming into the US. That's it, that's all he asked them to do, and what's Canada's reaction? Throw a fit, flex, threaten, tit for tat, etc... etc... etc... It sounds like you're just hearing the superficial news and none of the heavy weight news that's drastically changing the US for the good now. I think you should find more informed and reliable news sources. The democRATs who have been in power for the last 8 years have been minions for the globalists... and the same thing is happening in other countries as well, but our country is set up so the people can fight back, and we've won. President Donald J. Trump has the strength of will, character and desire to get our government back to the people. In fact, it's because Trump has won that other countries will also benefit, because the US was a HUGE piece of the globalists plans and without the USA in their grasp anymore, the globalists are stumbling and fumbling... not really sure what to do now. You think President Trump changing the name from the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of American is petty... no, it's called being assertive and letting the rest of the world know that we're done being pushed around and he means business. It's not about getting power... it's about gaining healthy boundaries and healthy respect. Here you're worried if Poland gets attacked, you wonder if the US will defend you, but why do you look only to the US? What about all the other countries around you who are your actual neighbors. The problem is that the US has given so much that the world now feels entitled to whatever they can syphon from the US. The US is a benevolent country and President Donald J. Trump is a fair and caring man... if Poland were being attacked, he wouldn't stand by and watch it happen... even though we're not your neighbors. If the US doesn't stay strong and sovereign that's when you need to start worrying... and right now, we're NOT what we should be to be able to be all the world needs us to be.

As an American, I am incredibly disgusted by the current administration. In our last election, there was a strong sentiment of nothing getting done by either party and not being pleased with either of the candidates. Only 46% of eligible voters participated in the election. Only 24.1% of the population voted for this president. 22.7% for his competition. Our House of Representatives and Senate have barely passed any legislation over the last 15 years. All of the News agencies have abandoned journalistic integrity in favor of clickbait sensationalism. We are cozying up to longtime hostile powers and picking fights with our longtime allies. If you asked me 20 years ago if I thought we'd ever see the United States fall, I would have laughed. Now, I feel like I'm watching evil idiots roasting the carcass of the country I loved over a fire and laughing about it. I'm ashamed at how stupid, selfish, self-centered and mean so many of my countrymen have become.

As far as I'm aware, the versions are just different in the exact words used. Some are written in less formal language than others, they basically all say the same thing. As for Carlin being the first to talk about this, he wasn't. It's just that most of them were declared heretics and killed by the church a long time ago, so most people didn't think it was a smart idea to publicize these thoughts.

The video was probably made prior to the pandemic and was definitely not made by an American. Our military was ordered to be ready to fight a major conflict in two theaters of action simultaneously, at least it was until the 90s. It'd be easy to blame one 'side' or the other 'side', but I think that is BS. The majority of Americans are in the middle and t he extremes garner most of our attention and so have the most influence. I will admit a personal animus towards DJT, which dates back to the 80s and his whining attempts to get attention and see his name in the paper or hear it on TV. That said, I haven't personally cared for any president when they were in office. We just buried Jimmy Carter. He was a great man after his time as president, but I was in the Marines during his presidency and times were not great then. Hence the presidency of Reagan. Will the US be dragged out of our alliances? I hope not. But such a small proportion of our populace serve in the military any more [~1%] that an understanding of the greater good of the nation and the good the nation provides in stabilizing international affairs is lost on a majority of our citizenry. I hope reason will prevail, and we will come to our senses. [and on a side note, I hope for the success of Ukraine in defending its right to exist and for invasions to fail.]

Americans are tired of seeing there money go to help foreign nations while we see our home front crumbling. infrastructure is old and deteriorating, homelessness on the rise, education system failing, inflation etc. i think the era of america world policing is coming to an end. we cant hold up the world forever while trying to hold up ourselves. were trillions of dollars in debt and each generation of Americans gets poorer and poorer. its a reason why trump won. i believe his american first message resonated with many Americans who are living pay check to pay check while watching foreign nation/ people/ and interest reap the benefits of the american taxpayer. having alliances and world peace is good and all, but when we can no longer sustain it our allies should be ready to cover for themselves. an example is the UK. i think one reason the UK is in the predicament there in today is because they relied to heavily on us military support and cut down there military in size through out the decades. now they no longer have the military budget or manpower to be an effective fighting force and are scrabbling to catch up.

You are so wrong about America being respected, even by our allies. Almost all take advantage of America, and our taxpayers in order to fund their rampant socialist programs, and severely underspend on their own defense, and trade. The US has a 1 trillion dollar trade deficit with the world. In turn, we are constantly disrespected by the governments, organizations and just normal civilians of these allied countries.
