She is more stable due to a high center of gravity. Having proportionally longer legs and a shorter torso compared to the Chinese gymnasts who tend to wobble with their longer upper body swaying sideways.

I hate that Russian technique on the Rufolva. They should classify that and a true full twisting korbut flip as diferent skills.

She was throwing crazy difficulty but that's still the most piked "layout" full I've seen competed. The FIG really should add a pike full into the code because that's what it is instead of crediting it as a layout then deducting.

The way this poor girl was treated is a travesty and a crime. Her coaches should have faced abuse charges and been banned for life. I’m so glad she found joy in this sport through UCLA and Miss Val.

This type of routine is pretty common today, but at that time only Khorkina performed routines like this.

Difficulty was one thing, but there were also execution errors to be taken. What could be definitively said was the INCONSISTENCY in the scoring at those games- especially for the Chinese.

She was extremely tall for a gymnast. Fortunately her coach turned that into an advantage.

She didn’t have the explosive power that some other, much shorter and somewhat more compact gymnasts had in that day, but instead had the length and spring in her legs to gain power in a different way. It certainly demonstrated to the world that a taller gymnast could still succeed.

I feel like she throws that dismount around and hopes to land safely. This is one of the only routines where she focuses on sticking it.

She also intended to connect a Reuda after the switch jump to get another 0.1 cv. She really developed the difficulties a lot but her abilities dropped due to body injuries.

She does a 3/4 twisting "Shushunova" as the third jump in her leap series. It's not just a back hip circle. Now, I know jumps in the 1/4 turns are not recognized now, but she should at least get credit for some kind of straddle jump swingdown situation.
