85L? Thats damn near SUP. That’s basically full length
@KitePaddleSurf27 күн бұрын
Yea 85L is pretty small for SUP standards unless the rider is really lightweight. I'm thinking sub 130lbs. These boards are really narrow so side side stability would be challengin purely from a balancing and trying to paddle. I have the 75L Mid and its perfect for winging in light winds and prone foiling in the smallest of bumps. I weight 150lbs for comparison.

would you also recommend the version with wheels? It looks a bit unstable because the wheels are on the narrow side...
@KitePaddleSurfАй бұрын
You don't need a lot of width for the wheels because you pull the bag from the other side and essentially your using the wheels at the other end instead of dragging the bag. I travel a lot with surfboards, so far I have been able to go without using a bag with wheels however when I have a long walk across an airport I wish I had wheels because I will end up dragging my board bag sometime. If your strong and fit then your fine without wheels but if you want to save your shoulders or back then go for the wheeled version. Hope that helps. aaron

why would you recommend a popout board with a construction method making it very difficult to repair? These things are landfill food
@KitePaddleSurfАй бұрын
From my experience with these boards, especially in rentals, is that they are built extremely tough and see very little damage that is more than cosmetic and requires repair. These boards can endure a lot of abuse and last a very long time. When simple repairs are needed, an alternative repair solution that has worked well is using surftech ding dough - not always pretty but does the job well. - Ethan at KPS

How would you compare this Flow to the XPS? Both have great reviews for all around.
@customerservice8999Ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment Shaun. The wings are very similar in their balanced, stable nature. The differences between the two wings really come down to personal preference. The most pronounced difference is the handle shapes: Armstrong has a oval grip (think lacrosse stick), where Ozone has a circular grip (baseball bat). I prefer the oval grips of the Ozone where Ethan likes the Armstrong shape more. -Zane

What is your opinion about taking off in light winds between 58lfg X 50lsup? The add volume compensates the narrower width ?
@brenofernandes1204Ай бұрын
I use the 50ltr sup and on light winds is use the 60ltr...does the 58fg will work as my only board...Iam 73kg intermediate wing foiler able to jibes, tacks and surf small waves
@KitePaddleSurfАй бұрын
I switched to the 58L Wing FG from the 60L Wing SUP, the narrower width took a little getting used to (stability on the water) but once you have that figured out it makes getting up on foil easier as they generate speed better. I'd say the 58L would be a great everyday board for you, I'm 190lb (~86kg) and use the 58L for the majority of my riding. If it's REALLY light and you want a dedicated quiver board for light wind I'd recommend the 65 or 75L Midlength, those boards take off super easily in light winds. Feel free to give us a call at the shop with any questions! -Riley at KPS
The low end of the XPS is outstanding, The Flux does seem a little heavier in hand when holding it. Thanks for the comment and watching.

Hey great video. I've been surfing for over 30 years and although you call yourself beginner to intermediate you seem pretty knowledgeable of surfboards and surfing in general. I have been considering getting a Torq Don HP 9'1"which is I believe ACT construction. I'm not sure of what exactly it is whether it's bamboo and I'm not really confident that I know the difference between the different board technologies Torq boards are offered in. But I really like the Don HP and I also have considered the Torq longboard probably the 9 foot. I like the Don but I like the nose rocker of the Longboard. I hate nose diving. I mean I angle the drop in as much as I can. I'm the guy who has a hard time making up his mind. I rented a 9' Torq in Hawaii and I surfed Ala Moana on it. I caught a ton of waves 3-4 feet and had fun but I wanted something a little more progressive. I wish I remembered what model it was but I believe it was a 9 foot longboard TET construction. I never did get real far back on the tail to try and whip it around more but the board was pretty boaty and thick. I always end up riding my longboards kind of like a short board anyway. I'm not into nose riding I just want a bigger board for the smaller waves where I live in southern New Jersey which is quite often. I'm 6 ft, 210-215, and 51 years old. I'm in decent shape but not Kelly Slater. I just saw your video on the Don and saw the link for this video. As another commenter said you just can't find many reviews or info on line and I had an idea I would try to find a place that rented these boards first before buying but that's very unlikely.
@KitePaddleSurf2 ай бұрын
Well, thank you for watching our reviews on the Torq Longboards. The 9' Longboard you rented I'm sure was the TET, I don't think, and surf shop is going to rent a DON or DON HP unless it was a demo. The Constructions are different in that the TEC is a standard epoxy construction similar to other higher end epoxy boards. The ACT is a carbon layup that tries to resemble more of a Poly board feel but with a stronger construction build up. If you are looking for a board to surf more off the tail, then yes, I would definitely consider a DON HP 9'1" The standard DON is a much flatter rocker meant more for glide and nose riding. If you're looking at the Torq lineup I would also consider the Edouard Delpero Pro 9'1" I have not ridden it but looking at the specs and outline this is the type of board that I think you would really like. Hope you found some of this info helpful, good luck with your surfing journey.

First of all, these boards absorb water no matter how tight the fin screws are...but the momentum from that extra weight actually makes the board even faster. The bottom is kinda like a snowboard base, p-tex with a very light grind from tip to tail (fastest bottom in the business). Top does need a light wax, at first, but then never needs to be waxed again. The included plastic fins are garbage: they're so soft, the screws just rip through and the fins fall out and sink. Highly recommend you upgrade to their harder fiberglass fins. Due to knee surgery, I rode the 6 ft LOG exclusively for 2 years and it was the best groveler I ever owned...by far!

@KitePaddleSurf2 ай бұрын
I would recomend either the Mod Fish 7'2" or the or the 7'6" Mod Fun. If I had to recommend one the 7'2" is wider and is going to offer more stability when Popping up. However the 7'6" is longer so its going to paddle faster which can get you into waves sooner. For most surfers learning they are going to choose a longer board vs. a wider board so my recommendation would probably be the 7'6" for you. Thanks for watching and asking the ?.

I've had quite a few surf lessons and camps. I am 165cm. I mainly surf on summer vacations when i can. My main experience is foam boards down to +/- 7'0. I did get a secondhand NSP 6'8, that i haven't had too much chance getting adjusted to and surf with. Do you think that is a good board, albeit it may take some time to adjust to? (since it's not a foamtop)
@KitePaddleSurf3 ай бұрын
There is definitely a big difference between the foam board and the nsp 6'8" epoxy board. The foam boards provide that instant fun factor in surfing where is the nsp is going to take some time to figure out. If you want to learn to surf better by actually turning the board and not just ride the wave and go straight then I would stick with the 6'8". For your size this is a pretty big board so you will definitely figure it out eventually, it will just take time. If it gets frustrating on the NSP just grab a foamie and go have fun when you can. Thanks for watching our video, have a great day.

@KitePaddleSurf3 ай бұрын
It's hard to determine what is stronger because they both try to achieve strength through different processes. The tet-cs are boards have less glass layers but are reinforced with a carbon fiber cloth down the center for durabilty. The New technology tec-HD is glassed with additional layer of 6oz fiberglass. If I put the two boards together my guess would be the tec-HD is overall going to be more durable because the entire deck is reinforced with more fiberglass. Hope that helps, thanks for watching our review and have a terrific day. Cheers
