This mower has same blade as the Greenworks mower. The underneath of the deck looks 99% same as the Greenworks mower. The Greenworks mower comes with a high lift blade according to the manual. I am very certain the Greenworks 60v pro 51cm high lift blade will be a direct fit on this Stihl mower. Finally if you run the mower at full headspeed 3200rpm you will get a better cut.

Other reviews are saying the same thing around the quality of the cut as in missing blades, I noticed it missed a fair bit in your video, this has a lot to do with the blade not being a high lift type to save battery life apparently, I’m closer to buying but this is real sticking point for me as what’s the point of buying a lawn mower that does not cut the grass fully. Thanks for you video
@passement1 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Dazza. I still have the mower but I don’t love it. Also keeping the blade razor sharp seems to help. The other Stihl Battery equipment I have is generally great.

You can see that the motor does not release the wheels when you want to pull backwards. Also the handles are very painful. I returned mine immediately and bought a Honda mower.

These are nice mowers, but they’re not $719 USD nice. That’s what my local dealer is asking for this model. I really think it’s worth about 1/3 of the asking price.

How do you wash out the deck?
@markamouat4 жыл бұрын
Being a battery mower you don't want to wash out the deck, as water will possibly get in the motor. Other video's I've seen they just scrap out the cuttings with a brush or similar.

I have an EGO Select Cut and the quality of the cut is not great. It tears the grass and leaves uncut blades behind.

I used mine for the first time a week ago and I agree with your assessment. I used the mower in the eco mode, but next time I intend to run it in the full mode in the hope of getting better results. I had similar issues when reversing. Having used petrol mowers for ever, it is possible that the brain muscles need to adjust to the self propelled operation and different controls!
@passement14 жыл бұрын
I really like the mower. I agree that you have to adjust your thinking to align with how this mower does things.
@dylanm35194 жыл бұрын
I think the speed of the self propulsion might be the reason for missed cuts. It is pretty fast, even in the lowest setting. I think the mower does a good job overall.
@passement14 жыл бұрын
I agree. Most of the time I've got it on the slowest setting.

Thanks so much for posting this! I have other Stihl yard tools that rely on the battery and was considering getting a new mower like the 510v. My current Toro rechargeable mower is similar with the same cutting issues and I was hoping a new Stihl one would help in that regard. Sounds like it’s an issue overall with battery-powered mowers. Not as much oomph as their stinky gas engine cousins, I guess. ☹️ Thanks again and happy mowing! Christine in sunny Colorado, USA. 🇺🇸❤️🇦🇺

I think my lawn is just a bit too much for the mower. I mainly use it to cut the grass around the house. I have to say I really like my other battery powered Still tools. I'm also not unhappy with the mower as I really like the fact you pop a battery in it and it goes. My assessment is if you've got thick and tough grass with any sort of moisture in it, you could be a bit disappointed.
@Chrispy_thee_Critter4 жыл бұрын
passement1 Thanks for your reply! Yep, same issues with my Toro never doing well on wet grass, too. Well that’s a bummer to learn about the Stihl having the same issue. 😔👎🏻 Hopefully, technology will eventually improve in that regard. Toodles and take care! Christine

Real review. It's to f-ing heavy to use for most people, it's not the battery that's heavy, it's the telescopic pole... it puts all the weight in front of you... If you have a lot of hedging, topiary or anything that you really need to curve it on.. your elbows, wrists and back are done for. A lady today asked to feel it (hedge cutter) and she was shocked at how heavy it is an she's a gardener! The angle adjuster is crap, the first settings either side of straight is at to much of an angle. It is quiet which is nice. But as a gardener, id strongly reccomend trying it out before buying
@passement14 жыл бұрын
You are right about the weight. I usually pace myself when using it by mixing it up with a smaller Still hedger.

I have a hard time removing my oil filter for some reason any suggestions on how to remove it if it's really stuck
@passement17 жыл бұрын
Hi Jonathan, Firstly make sure that the tabs that are designed to ensure the filter housing doesn't come loose are out of the way. The filter removal tool should assist here as well. Secondly, the filter housing may have been over tightened - if this is the case then a bit of brut strength might assist. Be careful though because if your filer removal tool is a bit weak it might not be able to take the pressure. Regards Geoff

I have a very important question! I did my oil change and there were metal/aluminum flakes I'm the drain pan. What are some possible causes? 2009 corolla
@passement17 жыл бұрын
Hi, metal flakes in the oil pan could be a sign of bearing failure. Any metal flakes in your oil is not a good sign. If you have a big end bearing going you will hear a change a rattle or knock in your engine. I would get a professional to listen to the engine to check for any abnormal noises. Regards, Geoff
