Hadn't seen this since I was a child and went back to watch it. Grant is excellent and so is the photography and location, and it has some fun parts, but I just felt that Leslie Carron's character was unbelievable, as were the behavior of the girls. I don't know anyone who would behave like that, esp. in in war time.. I don't know why they feel a need to stereotype girls and women so horribly. We are not stupid. Are we not interesting enough as we are? I know it was suppose to be amusing, but I thought they were deeply annoying and simply could not get over that.

How come the part where the mother snatches her cadet son from the column and drags him into the house and the kid exits through a window?

Wonder if Cadet Barksdale was any relation to Mississippi politician and general William Barksdale, who would soon be killed at Gettysburg.

The school shown here was an actual military school and the boys were its actual student body. I bet they had the time of their lives doing this.

It is 2024 and the country is still living in the past....a past that threatens to destroy us. That past is the period of that includes the time when slavery was allowed in the American Colonies and then the United States, a past that continues into the present. The truth is that slavery was not limited to blacks but also included asians, hispanics, native americans and poor whites that were enslaved by various means. The period of slavery was replaced by legal segregation policies that didn't end until 1965. It ended legally but not actually and took the form of not only discrimination against minorities but also against whites in the form of Affirmative Action followed by the present-day policies of WOKE, Black Lives Matter and others that have successfully polarized and divided the American people more than ever. There now exists a real possibilty for a third civil war(the first being the War of Independence and the second being the Civil War) and all because the sense of rage over the past as well as rage over the present has almost destroyed us. We have to stop looking at the history of this conflicted past as glorious or outragious then work together to make the past part of the past not the present as we are doing. That is our only chance for salvation as a nation and survival as a people.

My great great granddaddy stood only 5 feet tall and was with Pickett's division at Gettysburg. Said the only reason he survived was the damn Yankees was all shootin' to high. He had thirteen daughters. All married Confederate soldiers. All were widows at war's end
