When the Q12 was assigned artics in 2019, it was only able to get 11 XD60s from 2012 due to the other routes that need artics. That’s why it is common to see both 60ft and 40ft buses on the Q12. At the time, the 54 XD60s from 2017 assigned to the Q44 were all SBS-wrapped. So I think MTA was trying at first to keep the 2017 XD60s off the Q12 for that reason, but I guess either ridership kept growing or the process needed to be streamlined, as more 2017 ones hopped onto the Q12 for the next few years, until MTA finally decided to unwrap the SBS logo on these buses, so no one assumes the Q12 has an SBS variant and because the Q44 has no local variant.

@@timelessparad0x_i don’t think he’s referring to that. the XE40 takes a long time to switch from “QUEENS BL 62 DR” and “via GRAND.” similar to the time the 2011 XD40s take.

@@noahsofflineBut this can lead to more people missing the bus. I think this happened because the previous 2018 display on these buses failed to work properly. Remember when the 2014-15 XD40s came out and they originally had a faster Spectrum speed? When that failed, the current speed began.

Nope, the buses that used to run on the Q52 with the SBS wrap has moved to other depots, as well as some of them from the Q53 SBS, due to the arrival of 2019-2020 XD60s. These buses don’t have the wrap in order to open the door for the 2015-2016 XD60s at JFK Depot to also run the Q52, which was done to streamline the process since the Q10 doesn’t have an SBS counterpart.
