I went to confession after 60 years as I felt a sense of foreboding, and such ominous things are going on in the world. I told the priest it had been 60 years and he said “well, that’s a lot to unpack” 🤪🤣but we talked 10 minutes and he told me to say the rosary 2X. Now I say it daily. Very peaceful and comforting after 6 months of saying it daily . I still don’t go to church regularly. I told him I like an evangelical church in my neighborhood that discusses passages in the Bible, something we never studied in the Catholic Church. I told him I actually got more out of that than the Catholic Church and that they serve communion monthly, and I found it every bit as satisfying.. He scoffed, said I needed to choose one or the other, and said the Catholic Church was the only true church and that “THEIR little wafer and juice in plastic cups was not the same as the real Eucharist”. I felt he was condescending and haven’t been back in 6 months. It reminded me of why I left in the first place…”Our way is the ONLY TRUE WAY” superior attitude. I just watch the evangelical church’s service online and feel fine about it. The message is always about being an intentional neighbor. I just wish I was more mobile so I could attend weekly but it is all good with my soul…and I’m content. God Bless all of you struggling with this angst.
