Knowing the extras we saw earlier in the series and the logic from the Godfather hit I can only image Carmela's OH MY GOD's and AJ's hysterical squeaking as Meadow witnesses the shooting from the entrance... mostly I feel bad for those boy scouts who are so eagerly listening to their leader and clearly having a great time. After this their lives have changed. I understand why people dislike the ending, because everybody knows what they have seen, but do not get to see it.

I gave this video a downvote coz he didn’t mention nothin bout the characters eating the onion rings Tony soprano was definitely shot and the writers wanted to make him a martyr but actually he was a demon

It tickles me how everyone has a theory on what happened to Tony when no one really knows.

I still believe in My take of the ending which has been that it was not Tony that got whacked. It was us the viewer. And that’s the one I’m sticking with because it still holds up. David Chase said that the dilemma he created with this character is that every Sunday night everybody tunes in to watch and in many cases root for him and his compromised and/or ambiguous set of morals. Yet he felt people couldn’t wait to see him get what he deserves in the end. So while we were all focused on this world somebody snuck up behind us the collective and in Bobby’s words “We didn’t even hear it when it happened.” Thus the “Members Only” jackets (both on the guy that went to the John, and the one that the guy that killed Silvio was wearing, as well as the one the guy who wanted Tony’s permission to retire was wearing when he murdered another guy in a diner from the same angle we would be in, proves to be just that. We are no longer Members allowed to remain looking in this fishbowl, that showed us “This thing of theirs” not ours. Note the 3 rings emblematic of continuity: The Onion rings he ordered for the table, not family, not for the 4 of them but for the table. So not for us. The repeated ring at the door. Which reveals Tony’s family and several representatives of those he tells himself he has to protect his family from. Members only Guy takes up the “Big Slate” over AJ as an enforcer against us to remind us we are no longer welcome. And the Rings on Tony’s fingers. One on his pinky on on his ring finger. What is the next one? A big🖕🏻 to us for letting this feed our bloodlust. Last 2 pieces of evidence: 1: The final shot of Tony has no sign of the shadow that would be cast if somebody was close enough for a kill shot. And literally the last thing We hear: “The Move Never Ends it goes on and on and on and… I can tell you from people that worked on the show that they shot 3 different endings to keep the secret from leaking. In NONE of them was Tony murdered. There actually was one scene that showed a very much alive Adriana testifying in Court. Revealing that Silvio was an informant from the time Johnny Sac took control of NY. Obviously they were never going with that one. Great Vid and thank you.

It was such a great ending to a great show. I think you’re bang on the money with your analysis. You didn’t mention Tony, AJ and Carmela eating the onion rings…. I always sort of saw it as a last communion (I know the video is 10 years old, but it’s still very valid). I remember watching it thinking “What did they just do”? The realisation came slowly. I’ve come to love it… there’s been many great show endings, but none as great as this.

Wrong !!! It took me over 10 years but this is the explanation for the ending 1. Carmella books the restaurant for 7pm, Tony says he has something to do "on his way" 2. He called to Junior "on his way" it was clearly after 5pm as the board said next meal is Supper not dinner !! 3. Tony wears beige trousers and a collar that is bright when visiting Junior too !! (Huge clue) 4. When he walks into the Restaurant at 7pm or earlier (as he is first) as he pauses we see that has a dark collar shirt and Dark trousers. (Did he change clothes?) Then it cuts to him already sitting there !! Why did he walk in and pause ?? Why did he have different clothes ? 5. A few episodes earlier he clearly says "I can't eat onions" after being shot. Yet he orders onion rings for the table and eats one !!! 6. The other things like 3 times parking (2 times assassination attempts, 3rd success) Kids from Bobby's killing Guys who tried to shoot Tony ordered by junior All meant to set the scene for his death BUT .... The final scene is Tony pausing and thinking of what could happen, not what actually happened !! Tony did die sometime, but it wasn't in the restaurant that night Thanks for reading, happy for pushback

Okay so obviously Tony Soprano doesn't get shot and killed as much people hate this character in The Sopranos including the guy talking about Tony's death what he thinks he knows it's all wrong the Bell Rings because his daughter is coming in the restaurant door there is no reaction he's looking at the menu and obviously the bell rings every time people walk through that door the Bell obviously rings he looks up and sees his daughter come in those who are real true soprano fans like myself will know when Tony Soprano definitely has a reaction look when a gun is pointed at him Wikipedia Tony Soprano and you will see he is still alive that is the real true evidence it doesn't say deceased at the Wikipedia

They copied the sopranos from the decav crime family in New Jersey. Tonys character flipped. They copied so many similar murders etc from one real life family to the show. It's not normal for the mob to kill someone in front of their family. If they want this to be the ending it would be inaccurate of how the mafia is. It's possible that he was with his family meeting there to go into FBI and marshal custody into the wits program. HEs waiting for his whole family to get there. The nervous man could've been an undercover agent waiting to take them to another life. It's just not normal for the mob to muder a member in front of their family. Also who would want to kill Tony in the mob it has to be sanctioned by all of the families for a leader of a family to be sacked. Why would they kill Tony? The only way they would kill Tony is if he was flipping and they knew. They would never allow a hit in front of his family and also all of those witnesses a hitman would not want to have been seen too much in a murder where he could get life if caught there not stupid.
