I understand about the bondo getting wet that is very true, but it's just as cringe worthy seeing you rub in the dirt into the paint. Haha. I know there's not a real good way of doing it though. Maybe a air blow gun first but it only does so much.

Haha! I was wondering when someone would say something like that. I'm planning on repainting the whole car, so I'm not too worried about any fine scratches.

This is such a cool car. I loved it when Kyle got the M.Y. deal just off the heals of Days of Thunder. I got to see the car up close for the first time in Phoenix in 91. Just a stunning car. I've wanted to build a model of it for, well, decades now. I very rarely wash my black 88 Mustang GT. I do the same thing. Microfiber towels and detailer. Looking forward to the walk around video.

@grassrootsNASCARracing - All those "imperfections" add character! You may find a synthetic clay mitt or clay pad (not an older, traditional clay bar) may help with that white residue and is relatively low risk, as long as you use the spray detailer as a lube. If interested, I'm happy to shoot over some recommendations I have vetted through my detailing experiences.

31:26---that's a extra rear gear oil cooler pump belt incase the one thats installed breaks. And/Or they could leave it off the pulleys for qualifying ( maximizing horsepower) and install that zip tied one for the race. Gotta be able to fix busted parts on your race car in seconds.

The steering box saying Roush (new 1996) pretty much convinces me this was a 1996 Mark Martin car plus Mark's cars had grey interior along with the Valvoline Blue paint in 1996. Mark Stahl should be able to back track the history.

I did some research for you on this car and according to the image on Google it was raced in 1991 although your car appears to have incorrect paint schemes and decals which leads me to believe that the previous owner redesign the car at some time and changed it back before selling it

That nose looks like 91-92. You are going to like those upper control arms. Those are so nice for setting your camber and caster. But I do not believe that they were legal for NASCAR. But who cares. Id keep them. They are sold at Speedway Motors. I have a cup rule book from 90 and I think 92. I'll look that up. The engine looks very legit Cleveland engine. You should get intouch with Lake Speed and his son to help you I'd that engine. They just rebuilt Lake's race engine from the mid 90s. It looks like an early 90s built car that was updated over the seasons as new rules came about. It looks like a Banjo car that the front has been reclipped with a Laughlin style frontsteer snout. Or posable that it's just a Banjo front steer car. He was building those in the early 90s. Anyways. That is a really cool find. What a great archeological dig to find the true history of the car. That's a lot of fun. I bet you that car will be a blast on the road course. And I have no idea what that valve lever is. 😂 I've never seen something like that. Cool video. Really enjoyed.

That's crazy the coils use that cheezy push-on clip. That's the plug Ford used on plain ole cars in the 70's and early 80's. (maybe 60's too, I can't say for sure on that one). So, on the upside, if you ever break one or it burns up its contacts, you can get a new one anywhere.

I had the same thought about it being a former junior Johnson car. Sterling marlin wouldve been the wheel man. Also checked out lake speeds ride at the time, with that 83 purex machine. 15 wouldve been red motorcraft driven by Morgan Shephard, and the 8 was Rick Wilson snickers mobile.

Nice car Scott. @11:51 where the drivers name rail is you can see a sun faded name of Bill Daffron there. I've never heard of him but that's something to check out. Brett Bodine didn't drive for JJ in 91 or 92. Geoff Bodine in 91 and Bill Elliott in 92 . JJ sold the 11 team to Brett in 95 or so. This might be a rare superspeedway car thought from what I see from the front suspension.
