Yep, in NASCAR, the driver who starts the race gets the points and credit for the finish. That’s why when a driver gets injured and can’t run a full race, if possible, he will start and run a few laps or until the first caution, then get out of the car. Interesting history on that car. My grandfather worked at Daytona speedway for a long time and was a devout Harry Gant fan

Great story. I owned an ex-Bobby Allison/Neil Bonnett/Jimmy Means Malibu from the 1970's (my generation). It's great fun doing the "detective work" especially when there's an interesting "back story".

I'm odd, but I'd restore it back to the Eddie/Peak car. There are plenty of icons in the sport who will never be forgotten. Petty, Earnhardt, Gant, Gordon, Wallace, it would be nice to represent and remember the independent driver.
