Dude? I’m 13 minutes in and haven’t learned one useful thing about this synth. Are you gonna get to any non rambling about yourself portions? ..,You seem real nice and I love you though.

Hey there do you happen to know anything about the m-256d memory cards for the Roland d20? I got one and changed the battery but it just says “illegal” when I try and save my own patches to it??
@tetrafoxofficial4 ай бұрын
Hmm, not sure. Could be the wrong card or not completely seated in the slot. That's all I can think of.

Drexciya used it very much along with Alfa Juno in the 90s. And they are cratfsmen of synth creativity, shows that its not the status of machine, but how creative you are with it.

Awesome interview. Too bad today’s pop music is not as well written and catchy as 80's music is. We have to compose music more elegantly as they did it back then.

It's not that simple. The expansion cards contain new PCM samples in addition to what ships with the base units (D-10/20/110) around which these patches are built, so it's not really possible to fully recreate the sounds without the cards.

This is fantastic to see and hear, thank you for the demos you've posted! DirtyVocoder and Heaven have both been sampled and used in many Amiga modules. I'm happy to finally hear them in higher quality. If you ever shared the sysex I'd be grateful (I've done the same for SY/TG55 cards, that's my fav synth)

It was so rad to meet you today at the restaurant!! Also you'll find this hilarious; all my siblings and I used Music Maker Jam as well. I remember thinking "Bro Step" was the coolest package, and I remember putting the mixdown for one of them into an older DAW called Acid and using the webcam mic to record the most trashy goofy "vocals" with my 4 year old brother. Good times... All our songs were horrible because we would cram as many tracks in as possible. We also had a looper music game on the Wii, and so these things are what shaped my production mind. I also really liked videogame music when I was younger. Ever heard the Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door soundtrack? Soooo good.

Back in 1988 this was the most desirable compagnion to my just newly aquired ESQ-1. It had sampled attack transients (everybody wanted sampled stuff then) that lacked the ESQ-1 AND drums AND effects for a very good price tag.

Thanks for making these videos. They’re a great resource. Do you know if the sound CB-52 Soundtrack at the 41:23 mark differs from the Soundtrack factory patch on the machine itself, and in what way?
@tetrafoxofficial Жыл бұрын
You're welcome! There'll be a new one coming your way shortly. I've gotten my hands on a very, very rare card that I'm excited to show. I don't think it is different, actually.
@stuartdavid8493 Жыл бұрын
Looking forward to seeing that new card. It’s strange if soundtrack is the same! I wonder why they repeated it. Maybe it’s used in a performance patch, I don’t think you recorded those in the video? I notice in the documentation for the card there’s a performance patch called soundtrack too. Does that sound different from the timbre patch?
@tetrafoxofficial Жыл бұрын
I didn't, as they are exactly the same patches. However, I unfortunately forgot to record the last sound, as it was B-88 "Pineapple Bomb" which was different. I don't know why they chose to replace just one sound on that entire bank.

I have a D-20 as well and it has its quirks (such as slow P-ENV processing). But there were somewhat recent developments enabling to use MUNT with the D-110 ROMs, enabling us to _finally_ virtualize the beauty of these synths. I'm planning to continue the work on the D-110 MUNT myself.
