I had a 114 low rider s and it ran very cool here in florida.. no issue with the right leg heat.. now I have the 117 and I can feel the heat on my right leg when stopped in traffic.. is this only a problem with some bikes or do all M8 117 run hotter?

Thanks for the question. I had the same experience between my Heritage (114) and my LRST (117), which is why I was looking for the deflectors. Even with the rear cylinder shutoff enabled at idle, I have seen defintate temperature differences between the 2. My RGST (117) also was warmer in those situations but came with deflectors at purchase. Ride Safe

Hello very informative video. Question, Is it just as easy going back to mid's I am buying a 2023 Low Rider ST and the current owner has installed forward controls but at 5'10" and close to 70 years old I feel like I may need the mid's like I have now on my 2014 Dyna Street Bob. I think I could do the back to mid's myself after watching your video also the seller says he could also do it for me. (he has all of the original mid parts) So what I'm asking is should I buy it with the forwards and see if I like iit. If not in your opinion how hard is it to go Back to mid's Thanks man
@justkillnbugz
@justkillnbugz 6 күн бұрын
Thank you for the comments. Great question, reverting back would just be the opposite of what I did, correct. Only thing is that you may need to pull off the covers to get the linkage arm back in, but I have not done it so not sure. I will tell you that the fwds are much more comfortable to me, at 5’11 than the mids. But that would be specific to your preference. If you have not yet ridden the bike as is, do so and see. If you don’t like it, ask the owner to put them back if it’s worth it, or try yourself. I think you could do it, just take your time. In any case, if you like the bike, and it’s a good deal, don’t let that stop you. Ride safe.

How is the Madstad windshield holding up after all this while? Does it cause any buffeting at all?
@justkillnbugz

Thanks for the question. It’s doing great, I love it! There is always the possibility of some buffeting depending on riding conditions, however on almost all my rides I feel very little if any once you get it dialed in. The beauty is the adjustment options which makes it easy to change it a bit as you ride. Ride safe.

Thanks for the question. To be honest, it was pretty easy, I just followed the directions and tucked the straps under the front and sides of the tank. I fed the sides behind some wires, the gas connection and bent the S hook with some needle nose to keep it in place (of course making sure no metal on metal rubbing was happening). I thought it looked pretty good, didn't move much once settled and I did not have to lift the tank anywhere. Hope that helps, ride safe.

This is legal in Arizona and safer according to the police. This is lane filtering, which is legal in Arizona, not lane splitting...here is a write up: How does lane filtering work in Arizona? There are three requirements to lane filter in Arizona: The speed limit can’t be greater than 45 mph The motorcyclist speed can’t exceed 15 mph Traffic must be stopped (basically, this is at stoplights). Thanks for the comments. As you mentioned, I did not like the fwd controls at all... My heritage was very comfortable, so I put the fwds on the low rider and loved it. It is a bit tough to compare a softail frame to a touring frame since they are different, and so is every person, but, I will say that the LRST with Heritage fwd controls is so much more comfortable for me. See if you can test ride a Heritage and that would give you a feeling of what it may feel like, minus a seat and bars that fit you of course. Ride Safe

Had both, LP bags n currently rocking with ST bags. Both have pros n cons. IMHO, if you like soft fabric solid construction that allows you to detach, then go with LP, and there are no other brands that come close to quality n functionality as LP in the current market. Now, with clamshell bags from ST is good if you like the hard bag apperance on LRS or LRST. I installed mine on ST n yes, Rt side is higer thsn left but iblt bothered me for days but i got used to it. It locks n secured when i travel OT. No regret thus far.

@justkillnbugz
@justkillnbugz 29 күн бұрын
Thanks for the question! That is a tricky one since each person is different. You generally focus on 3 elements for rider comfort: Seat, Bars and Feet. I would suggest you look at seat and bar position first to be sure you are not adding additional stress on your spine/tailbone due to bar angle, butt position and grip height. If all good there, then look at fwd controls depending on what is comfortable for you as you ride.

You can reverse bleed by pumping the fluid from the caliper up to the master cylinder just make sure you suck the fluid out of the bowl in the master cylinder so it doesn’t over flow and that way you don’t risk an air bubble getting to the abs system. Also make sure you don’t touch the brake lever while doing it otherwise it will pull air in and cause you to have to make an expensive trip to Harley for them to bleed the abs system

Now I’m having second thoughts about using the extensions because I feel like it might be TOO tall. Thanks for the question. I think it will depend on you and how everything fits with the seat and peg position for you. Mock up the risers with the extensions and see where you land. If good, press on. If too high, take the extensions off. You should be able to fit the 9 inch in there, but I would for sure take the tank off for ease of manipulation of the wires. Enjoy the work and have fun. It’s all about the experience for sure and I’m sure either will look great. Ride safe.
