Tarptent RainBow models are better in winds. It’s the advantage of incorporating poles in the fabric instead of an exterior frame.😮

Thank you. I’m putting my trust in this tent since I’ve seen interviews with Dan Durston and all the thought he puts into his tents. I feel very confident in it, not that I’m a very experienced backpacker.

Don’t take it in high winds. It’s a steep walled tent ie huge Wingage and fragile ultralight carbon poles. It will fail

I’m very happy with the results I’ve seen so far (videos) in regard to wind & snow. From what I’ve seen, Dan puts several years of thought into his tents and I’m not the least bit worried. Hopefully I’ll never have to do a video on a damaged tent due to wind/snow 👍🏻

I did see in Dan Durston’s video (and the website) that tall people could set up at a diagonal. I wonder if that would work for you?
@dontall715 күн бұрын
I'm 6'5" tall, just got mine in yesterday. No problem laying on the diagonal with room at my side. Plenty of head room when I sit up. Super easy to set it up.

Great review!! I've been patiently awaiting someone to post a better view of the interior space. Trying to decide if my 60lb Labrador Retriever and I can fit inside (preferably with my 24 inch REI Helix pad). Looks like I'll be ordering one in the second batch. Thank you, for posting (and Merry Christmas, self).

Thank you! I’m pretty sure your pup would fit nicely. There’s lots of space in the vestibule for your backpack, in case in doesn’t fit in the tent. When Dan Durston posted the announcement of the tent, he put 2 sleep pads in, side by side, which fit. I still can’t believe how spacious it is for a 1 person tent!

I just stumbled on your videos. Are you hiking the PCT in 2025? I am doing the last section to Canada.
@alissa_thornton9 күн бұрын
@@hikergir01 Yes! My start date is April 8th 😃 That’s awesome! Are you finishing a previous thru hike, with the last section, or is it a section hike?
@hikergir017 күн бұрын
@alissa_thornton only section hiking. I would love to through hike it but sadly that long on the trail would trigger some health issues for me. I will be 61 this summer. Just look for me and a pure white dog aka the dusty Diva. Hope to see you out on the trail. Best of luck to you!

@@hikergir01 Well thankfully you are able to section hike! It’s such an amazing trail! The sections I did this past summer are so stunning! I’ve decided I want to hike the Goat Rocks every single summer!! That would be awesome to see you and your pup on trail! Thank you!

Oh my gosh I’m glad you found the channel! It was great talking to you today! I’m not sure where you live, but just letting you know it is so much fun being a Trail Angel and handing out Trail Magic at different locations. In our vicinity the trail crosses Hwy. 12 at White Pass and Chinook Pass. There’s also Snoqualmie Pass and Stevens Pass. If you’re ever interested in the White/Chinook Pass, let me know and we can do it together. 2 years ago I passed out snacks/beverages and last year I passed out baked potatoes. It’s so much fun getting talk to the hikers!
