Definitely a fair take, I think the same as well with my older stuff. This video was one of my earlier reviews so it's sadly quite outdated in terms of my current opinions on gacha games. After playing multiple different gachas of varying generosity since and getting a lot more experience, my impressions of Nikke has changed a lot (for the better, of course). Rematch maybe? :)

@@TheAniknight that really is a shame, because I remember when I played the first fight kicked my butt and demotivated me to play it for a a while till the DJ appeared. I think keeping that tutorial would of helped there.

Just stay F2P and it's worth sticking around for the plot. :)

Story from what I can tell hasn't been too bad in terms of progression up to around Chapter 3 to my knowledge. You'll likely hit a point where you'll need higher level units to progress though, as with any other gacha. Main story (anime recap story mode) is locked behind chapters of the game-only 2 year timeskip arc for the Shadows, so I don't think you'll be too bored by the cookie cutter anime recap side of things. Just gotta keep your units built and I think you'll be fine.

Not a lot of mech games,sadly but in terms of how much I'd recommend: 1. Armored Core series if you enjoy a similar speed of mech combat to Mecha Break, AC6 especially since it's the easiest to access and the most up to date. No microtransactions to my knowledge. Also heard good things about Armored Core For Answer (some argue story is much better than AC but game's older and trapped on Xbox 360 and PS3) 2. Titanfall 2 but that's more of a multiplayer FPS which comes with the campaign, you'd find that on sale pretty easily on Steam if you don't have it already. 3. MASS Builder. More of a sandbox boss rush instance-based hack and slash with essentially freeform customization and building with a small side of VN style story. Robot movement can be a bit stiff in MASS Builder, main focus is building absolutely wild robots, so it's a weaker pick. 4. Daemon X Machina. It's watered down AC6 with a pretty mid story. It went free on Epic Games at one point. I'd get AC6 instead. :) But in these trying times for Mech games, a couple story-driven game I've had my eye on WITH mechs in it would be Earth Defense Force with their giant robots and Warframe with the Necramech and its own story being solid in itself (triple A quality stuff they're putting out for free tbh). Might be F2P but it's a hell of a grindfest for weapons and levels (microtransactions optional if you know what you're doing)

Not wrong there 🤣, also Nikke has an Evangelion collaboration if you're a cultured commander, ends in 3 to 4 days time at the time of writing this.

Great to hear from a long-time player, I've seen a lot of SIF1 players who were extremely disappointed from my research in the subreddits and whatnot, especially with how all their progress was essentially lost and turned into a glorified image viewer so they'd have to re-roll for their units all over again. Looking back at the game, it really did feel like a red flag with how short the story mode was for a game that should've focused on giving the older fans more content for the original groups. Same goes with how they killed off the original game to make way for this short-lived shadow of its former self. And maybe it might be for the best to let the game die a peaceful death so they can't milk the fans any further. Unless they bring back SIF1, which will probably never happen.

Had a feeling it was the very moment I heard Erlang Shen refer to Sun Wukong as a "monkey of merit" and the "Fighting Buddha", the headband given to him by Sanzang showing up, as well as the reference at the very beginning of the game to how Wukong chose to leave the Celestial court after attaining Buddhahood, which is what happens at the end of Journey to the West. After all that research, I'm seriously tempted to rewatch it myself too 😂

Didn't know it shut down, that's really sad😢. You can technically still hop into the game before it goes, but I'm not sure how worth it that is only for the game to disappear.

Definitely, partly why I started to enjoy the TVs. It's a lot less tedious but the premium currency yield's sadly dropped alongside it. If only they'd at least give us more Polychrome to make up for the reduced exploration, probably something along the lines of 50 instead of 30 per Exploration mission for our time. 😢
