Hi I have some questions about the distilling process, I have one of your LT300 set ups and I was wondering how can I tell when it is done distilling? Since I can't see through the pot or anything, how do I know when the water has all gone and to turn off my induction cook top? I don't want to damage my pot because I can't tell when there is no more water in it. Also, what temperature should I set my induction cooktop at for the distillation process? Another question I have is when to add ice in the condenser- do I add the ice before the water starts boiling or after and how much ice exactly? How do I scoop out the warm water to add more ice in while its distilling? Am I supposed to try to get ALL of the warm water out of it before adding any more ice cubes? It was a bit hard trying to get the warm water out once the ice cubes melted down because its not very wide. Thank you!

You have very good and practical questions. To avoid damage or dry cook, making sure there is at least 2 cups of water left in pot before finishing the distillation. If you added 2 liter (8 cups) of water in the pot before starting, collect no more than 1.5 liters (6 cups) of hydrosol. This will ensure avoiding dry cook. Always use medium heat for distillation and that will bring you the best hydrosol as well. I have a video explaining when to stop distillation.

@@LeTimeLeo Thank you! Also I need to know that amount of dry flower/herbs to use and what amount of water? Like if I can only fill half of the column with the dry herb im using, how much water should i be putting in the pot? Or if I can only fill the column 1/3 of the way, would i use only like a cup of water? How do i know what to use
@LeTimeLeo7 күн бұрын
@@sydneychild You can start with half column of herb. It is recommended to add at least 4 cups of water in the pot and this can give you a bit of space to avoid dry cook.

the turmerone ends up in the hydrosol and the curcumin ends up in the paste - not sure how to use these 2 products - question - does the curcumin also end up in the hydrosol or because it is fat soluble it doesn't get picked up by the steam during the distillation process ?

I bought an induction cook top to use for distilling but most need magnetic pots or cookware to work/heat up, but none of the pots in my LT3000 LETIME distillery kit have magnetic bottoms?
@LeTimeLeo15 күн бұрын
Hi, LT3000 has magnetic stainless steel and it can be tested with a magnet. I know some customers are using induction cook top. However you can always use a hot plate.

If I don’t have a ADI can I use a crook pot and a stainless steel bowl.
@LeTimeLeo17 күн бұрын
Yes, you may use water bath in slow cooker . Because slow cooker doesn’t control temperature, you want to monitor it.

Hi Le! Thank you for the video. Are we able to reuse the residual frankincense in the chamber? How do we measure the frankincense concentration used for labeling?
@LeTimeLeo19 күн бұрын
Mostly leftovers is gum resin that you will notice very weak scent but it maybe used for incense additives. Good question about the concentration. Technically HPLC is needed to quantify it. Practically a ratio between the resin added in and the hydrosol produced can be a very good factor. Keep the ratio consistent will make your quality stable reasonably.

@LeTimeLeo I watched the video but I'm confused about something, Do I take the strong alcohol mixture and distill it to take alcohol out directly or do I mix distilled water into equal parts with alcohol mixture and then distill that way. Since I'm not actually making a mushroom tincture I'm trying to make Rose absolute do I need to mix the water in with the leftover Rose petals and then you know do it the way you said on the other video or again do I take the strained contents mixed up with water and just do it or do I still distill it straight no water straight alcohol mixture that way.
