I'm still using a version of my 1970's rig. On all waters... lakes and rivers year round. Why change something that works?

I use a 3 inch bolt rig with heavy lead, and cast deep into the silt so lead and rig are beneath the silt. I don't unplug the lead from the silt.

Me, I don't see any merit in the captures. What's special about catching 40 or even 50 after 50. Apparently the rules are ridiculously OTT as well.

Catching very big carp on the rivers isn't too difficult if you avoid following what most others do. I rarely ever have problems on the Lot. Prefer to never use a boat or dinghy there, nor on most other rivers. I have no problem leaving a bait in position for several days without reeling it in, and always confident it will be there to be picked up by giants, while in the meantime able to withstand nuisance species and crayfish.
