Hi Nicole! I found your channel a few days ago and I've been working my way through your videos 😊 when you mentioned your big birthday in your other videos i was assuming you would be turning 30! I'm about to turn 40 too 😄 i love the fabric for your party dress
@LetKnitBeSew17 күн бұрын
@amydowns8430 Well I'm very flattered you thought that, but yes, it was my 40th I had at the start of October 😅 I hope you enjoy your 40th however you choose to celebrate it!

love your first vlog!!! i had to turn my volume to 100 to hear you.....

Thank you. I'm sorry the sound wasn't great for you. I am still learning what works best as I just film using my phone, but I have been experimenting as I go with raising the volume when I edit and am trying to get an external microphone set up to hopefully make better quality videos in the future 😊

I am incredibly jealous of whoever is recieving that tote bag! As a tote bag hoarder myself that would 100% be a staple in my wardrobe!! Excellent craftsmanship! I hope you have a lovely weekend 💞

Thank you. It's a great little pattern and the bag is a very useful size. I will definitely be making one to keep once I can persuade my printer to print the pattern at the correct size this time!

Thank you for the feedback. I'm still new to making videos, but I have just bought a microphone that I hope will help me improve things, I just need to test it out with my phone to make sure I know how to use it properly before I try and rely on it to film a whole video 😊

I forgot to say your dress is beautiful! You did an awesome job sewing it!

Really enjoyed this video thank you. I have made some knit tops but I have never used purchased ribbing. To be honest I don’t know what type to buy. Xx
@LetKnitBeSewАй бұрын
I don't often use ribbing, but I tend to buy the tubular stuff that is a really tiny rib as I feel like it has the best recovery and is less likely to get stretched out when you are taking things on and off. A lot of fabric shops sell the ribbing you can get on a little reel that looks like what you'd see on shop bought hoodies and joggers and that's pretty good as well if you are making that kind of garment.

I do think you look really pretty in the pinafore. I know you don’t like the lack of nipped in waste but don’t discount how good it looks on you. 🎉
@LetKnitBeSewАй бұрын
Thank you! I definitely don't hate it, I think sometimes when a piece of clothing isn't your usual style, it takes a little while to get used to. I am definitely going to be wearing it this Autumn/Winter though.

So sorry to hear you have had shingles. Your wrap dress looks wonderful.

For the blouse with the tight underarms, what about adding a diamond shaped underarm gusset? For the skirt with the amazing panels, you could lower the waist to where it will fit you. It will be shorter, but you won't lose the beautiful birds at the hem. The waist can be expanded with the fabric you remove from the top of the skirt. if you only need a bit of room, make the placket a faux button placket and don't overlap the pieces as much. Since there is a belt, any alterations to the waistband will be hidden. I LOVE that cord jacket! Happy finishing!
@LetKnitBeSewАй бұрын
The skirt is very small...I have no idea if I picked the wrong size, but I think I must have because the tie belt is also so short, like it's a neck scarf basically 😅 I think I can fudge it and not lose too much length to a point where it can be worn...and shorter means less buttonholes to do as well!

Hi Nicole, your wrap dress is wonderful. It has come out so very lovely. I do like your skirt, but for me I would have put pleats in it (but that's just me). Not sure what to suggest for your fabrics, I will have a thunk about it. Glad to hear that you are all better now 🙂
@LetKnitBeSewАй бұрын
Thank you. I think that a pleated skirt would also offer a less straight silhouette, and I'd probably like that better on myself as well. I obviously don't want this skirt to hang in my wardrobe not being reached for, hence the plan to shorten it, but yes, if I'm still looking for a long skirt pattern then I think pleats or other patterns with more fullness are what I should be going for 😊

Hi Nicole, your wrap dress looks nice. I'm sure it will be lovely one it is fully finished. I always find wrap dress a bit awkward to fit, but as Laura mentioned about using a slip, that is a good idea and you could make your own using a basic Aline skirt pattern as the bases. Hope you are feeling much better soon and manage to get to the show. Enjoy your week 🙂
@LetKnitBeSew2 ай бұрын
Alas, I didn't make it to the show, but I have done some online fabric shopping to make up for it. I did at least manage to use the time stuck at home to finish the Adeline dress, and I love it!

Hi. Regarding the wrap dress and the situation about wearing it, I have thought of a possible solution. You could wear a full slip under it so that if the dress was a bit loose the slip would show but would also keep your modesty intact. Also it would be another layer to keep you warm in the winter😘
@LetKnitBeSew2 ай бұрын
@LauraMartini-gb3nl Love this suggestion and I'm definitely all about layering for warmth...and modesty saving! I think I did have a slip somewhere, but I'm not sure if it survived the wardrobe cull when I moved last year, so I'll have to have a rummage and see if I kept it or not 😊
@LauraMartini-gb3nl2 ай бұрын
@@LetKnitBeSew ok that’s good. If you have got rid of it then Matalan or M&S do them or even possibly a charity shop. Keep us posted as to how you get on and I hope you feel better soon😘

Thank you! I hope you have fun making the Tabor sweater, I’ve just gotten some cream knit fabric to make one that I think will go with so many things in my wardrobe. I really like it as a pattern and I think it’s got a decent amount of variations too.

Thank you! I actually am planning on cutting out the jacket this week as I have both the fabric and the pattern already. Plus I’ve just ordered some thread to match the corduroy as there were a few fabrics from these plans that I realised I didn’t have a good colour match for - then we’re good to go 😊

Thank you! I did have a little look, but in the end we decided that I would just make a big rectangle out of the leftover fabric that could be draped over the arm and tucked under the seat to keep in position. My mum really just wanted to protect the arm from sun damage rather than having it to keep anything in 😊

Hi, I've just found your channel today. Your Nell blouse is beautiful, agree on the shoulders though, I find I need to do a narrow shoulder adjustment with most TATB patterns. I have made a Nell dress, but I sized down 2 sizes, the neck depth was ok for me, I'm also small, so may try sizing down if you decide to make it again.
@LetKnitBeSew3 ай бұрын
Thank you for commenting. It’s very helpful to hear what other people have done to adjust with similar fitting issues. I actually realised after filming this how similar the Quincy dress I talked about making is to the Nell bodice, so I’m going to compare the size of the pattern pieces and then decide if perhaps I should go down a whole size in the Nell or not.
