Hi! Hrm... I've not run into this problem. A question: Do you have Visual Studio 2019 Community Edition or a similar version installed? If not, I would try installing it. A downside to this is Visual Studio takes up quite a lot of disk space.

This podcast episode expired. I couldn't find it on the webpage. Can you share it with me? Or can you explain how you did it? I am working on an academic issue, attempting to record various insect footsteps, but it has been so difficult. I have an ultrasonic mic, but I don't know how to use it for this purpose yet. Very informative video, I'm having a problem, when i try to teleport through the map it's moving in very small increments, hardly moving at all, the teleporter isn't going ahead to where i want to go to, the blue circle doesn't go snywhere but near my feet when i push the joystick

Sounds like you should check your navmesh? Is it adequately sized, are you spawning inside it etc...

I'm using Mac M1 with Sonoma and UE5.3.2, please let me know if you have a clue about how to set up the proper Android Studio Version and NDK/SDK/JDK configurations for this setup in order to work (build, launch and deploy). I spent quite a few weeks trying to get 5.3.2 to work with no luck. I was able to get a 5.2 build to work and I was thinking of making a video about that but I’m not exactly sure when I’ll be able to.

I am using the Java that is _inside_ the Android Studio.app. I am using Android Studio 4.0 built on May 20, 2020. ​There'd be quite a bit of changes to do, if you are converting from a first person game to a VR one. Namely, you'd want to ask how you intend on experiencing the VR version, are you still going to be seated with the headset on, or will you be standing, using motion controllers? If you are standing, you'd want to add controller inputs that rotate the player, rather than if you were seated with a keyboard, you'd have to use a keyboard press input. Then, you'd want to be sure to figure out seated versus standing eye level playspace recentering. ​@@Jwalk9000

Content browser, - Add, - Feature or Content pack, - VR Template...worked for me, BUT, my nice map has terrain, not flat surfaces so navmesh lets me wade/teleport through the soil in places... maybe there's a way to make navmeshes more 'sensitive' to the environment...

I am getting "projectname.uproject does not look like uproject file but no targets have been found!" erros and "PackagingResults: Error: Launch failed! Missing UE4Game binary. You may have to build the UE4 project with your IDE. Alternatively, build using UnrealBuildTool with the commandline: UE4Game <Platform> <Configuration>"..... I read somwhere I should install Visual Studio and it would help....

I followed every single step for launching the app on my Quest 3 but I got the following errors in "Deploying Content for Android": Making .apk with Gradle... ERROR: JAVA_HOME is set to an invalid directory: /Applications/Android Studio.app/Contents/jre/Contents/Home Please set the JAVA_HOME variable in your environment to match the location of your Java installation. ERROR: /bin/sh failed with args -c '"/Users/myname/Documents/Unreal Projects/VR_practice/Intermediate/Android/arm64/gradle/gradlew" :app:assembleDebug' (see /Users/myname/Library/Logs/Unreal Engine/LocalBuildLogs/Log.txt for full exception trace) AutomationTool exiting with ExitCode=1 (Error_Unknown) RunUAT ERROR: AutomationTool was unable to run successfully. Should I consider using Android 12L for Quest 3? What else I should change?

In light of of recent Unity drama, can you make a video for how to build to android from a Mac in unreal in 5.2 more that it natively supports max. It’s not a trivial process and nobody else has created a good tutorial on this.

Hello ! U give a big help but I failed ! I following u step by step and all good until when I need to launch .... the window is show my meta quest 2 and start the process but is show failed on ( Building game for Android ) in red say ( ERROE: Platform Android is not a valid platform to build. Check that the SDK is installed properly ). I do everything just like U ! pls help me ! I use Mac Studio M1 Ultra macOS Monterey . I try UE 4.27.2

Greetings. I'm curious. Which Android Studio version did you install? I wonder if the JDK that comes with the later Android Studio versions is different than when I posted this video. I might have time to investigate this in a couple of weeks. I'm on a deadline right now. Any information you have about your Android Studio versions and JDK and NDK versions would be helpful.

@@shimmeringtrashpile sam like u but I found some thing how the NDK what I did have to change the NDK from the suggested 23.0.7599858 to 21.4.7075529 but now I have more problem cuz I use the Meta Quest Developer hub but some times the Launch is not go thru and I want to ask u like 100 more questsion .... how I can use MQ2 wit unreal 5.1. on Mac M1Ultra Mac Studio

I build a 3 level house and when I import ground level good then I import 1level and is make the launch everything is green but my meta quest 2 is thinking thinking then quit from launch I hope u can help me . have somewhere a setup how many face or triangle I can bring in one level ?

Thanks for tutorial, but i cant' find what i looking for... I need to preserve the hdm and hand grabs functionalities of the VR template mixed with the locomotion system of the FP template (walk, run, jump) and then set the inputs of FP Template (wasd) to VR controller, is any way to do this? Thanks!

Ok here we are again, i did a inverse process, i just plug the hdm in the FPS template and work fine, now i have a locomotion system of fps and the hdm for VR and works fine, only remains set inputs for movement of the players routing on the vive controller, searching on the UE forum, i read about of the openxr still not work's properly with the vive's controllers...

Nice tutorial man. I am trying to generate a build for the same template project with UE 4.27 on Mac. I am having error on "Deploying content on Android" stage saying Build Failed with the error java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class org.codehaus.groovy.vmplugin.v7.Java7 Can you suggest what to do with this case ? I have followed the exact procedure mentioned at the UE docs for installing all android related stuff. Please mention if you know the answer to this as over stack overflow I couldnt find anything useful. Thanks in advance

I havent' dug into UE5 yet. I'm waiting for the bugs and features to settle before I dive in. I have some larger-scale projects that aren't going to switch to 5 for quite some time, if ever, so I'm staying focused on 4.x for now. Sorry I'm not of any help there! If you find out either way, please update in the comments here as I'm sure people are curious!

This is a long video with occasional annoying pauses. Folks watching on a laptop/desktop can use the very handy KZbin shortcut keys of J (skip back), K (pause), and L (skip forward). Press Shift and then the , key to slow the playback speed by .25x. Press Shift and then the . key will speed up the playback speed by .25x. Summary J = Skip back 10 seconds K = Pause L = Skip forward 10 seconds Shft + , = Speed up by .25x (use multiple presses to get up to 2x) Shft + , = Slow dow by .25x (use multiple presses to down to .25x. Shout out to DJ Screw)

I do it the other way around. I don't have a dog but I use a large sized Trixie dog trailer for carrying cargo. I average 30-50kg but have had over 70kg in it. Over a thousand kilometres with it and so far so good. Maybe I'll actually put a dog in it one day? Two wheels are definitely much more stable for roads and paths even with two gas cylinders weighing 56kg. Coho is a great all rounder.

There aren't many tours of the Epic Games Launcher and the Unreal Engine Installer for new VR practitioners... so I thought I'd give one! This tour is done on a Windows computer but it should be just as useful for those on a Mac. The J, K, and L keys will jump back, pause, and jump forward.
