Wow, wow, wow! I think you took a balloon full of helium and sprinted the first 16 switchbacks, haha... I was quite moved at the end when you climbed the rock. Very inspiring! "If I can do it, you can do it". That sounds rather compelling... I would LOVE to do this! Thank you for an amazing video.

Thanks for sharing your hike! I backpacked to Bourn pond 4 years ago, enjoying the falls along the way. Such a beautiful sight!

How long did that take?
@MJustaddwater6 ай бұрын
Hey we made great time went about 2. Mph until the end. I just went back with my daughter this year and we were quicker. We took breaks but it was about 4 -5 hours. Just depends on your pace. 10.50 miles. The last mile is the hardest but we took it one switchback at a time. Enjoy. Thanks for watching. Take lots of water.

Yes let’s do it. I just remember this with your comment I will have to do this in July when I’m there. It was incredible.

I had Covid while hiking that trail. It was definitely hard to breathe. I was unaware that I was sick.

Wow! I’d love to go there! How many miles are all those switchbacks? Where are your dogs?
@MJustaddwater10 ай бұрын
No dogs this hike. And lots of rock climbing. The trail is about 2 miles then you start the rock climbing. And of course it’s out and back so 5 miles total if you just go straight to the landing and back down no side trips or bathroom breaks.

The FHT Foot Hill Trail. It connects to the Benton Mackaye Trail which actually also connects to the AT. Its a wonderful little trail about 78 miles long. I'm going to try and hike it again this spring

do you have to check in at the Peach Springs office ( before 5 pm the day before) or no need? quite confused with the procedure that is told by some KZbinrs. Or can I straight go to the trail once I have the permit and camp reservation online? Thank you.
@MJustaddwater11 ай бұрын
I believe you need to check in. Not sure if they changed the time but oh have to get the wrist band to make it past the 1st check point. Have an amazing time. I’m sure the checking procedures are changing as the season progresses since I went when they first reopened. Amazing journey and checkin was t that hard.

You both should be proud of yourselves for making that hike, kudos for both of you. I wish my knees can support me for that long hike. do you know which days of the week does the helicopter runs? or how can I find out? I went to the helicopcoter's website and it is not mentioned there. Thank you so much.
@MJustaddwater11 ай бұрын
I think it runs on Tuesday Thursday and Saturday but then again please don’t plan your trip on my knowledge the 1st thing to know is they change plans like the wind changes direction. Flexibility is key. Please call and research before making your plans. Thanks for watching. I can’t wait to go back.

@@MJustaddwater you are right but at my age and with my limited capability, I can only hope for the best and prepare for the worst and do the research for any little help I can get. I been hiking to streghten my knees as much as I can but the pain just comes and goes so this trip is still in my wish list. Thank you so much for your kind reply and specially your video that contains lots of information.

Always enjoy your VLOGs. These rainy days remind me of a trek in NM where it rained on us for 72 hours. We had to keep hiking. It was awful. Touch of hypothermia too.

That seems to be my case also. My zero day in the rain is next. I Didn’t have rain pants and it was around 36-44 all day. I couldn’t be wet and cold. So I had to stay put.

I hope you helped Russ take something from his pack since you had a mule
@MJustaddwater Жыл бұрын
Absolutely - in fact we used the bag tag for his pack since it was so heavy. And then we just split my pack which was lighter like 18lbs to carry out. My pack only weighed 25 with food and water. So it was much much lighter! 🤗

@MJustaddwater Жыл бұрын
Actually we used the bag tag for his backpack since it was 30+ pounds and mine was closer to 20lbs. Then I had an extra day pack and we split the contents of my pack between the two of us. Making the effort minimal. We were both happy how it worked out. Thanks for watching

Bag tag. If you buy a mule to transport your bags you can have up to 4 bags. Most people don’t use all four and try to sell them. She didn’t try to sell it. Just gave it to me. What a blessing. And as it turns out I didn’t use it for my bag but Russ bag. As you’ll see in episode 4: the one where they hike out! 😊

I am so excited for you. The horses look sad :(, what was with the helicopter? What is with the rocks and wishes? Poor horses! The place is beautiful, just think that was nothing but water/river hundreds of years ago. Amen to the Creator and what we can enjoy. Oh my....beautiful waterfalls. Indian tacos are amazing! That river is so clear and beautiful. The center of the Earth.....how was the weather? So glad you are enjoying yourself. Another one off your bucket list.
@MJustaddwater Жыл бұрын
The donkeys were just carrying supplies back and forth and the mail. The weather was mostly incredible. The rock wishes were like Pennie’s in a fountain. Just fun to do. The Supai burger was the best you’ll see that on day 3. The helicopter was taking people from the bottom out if they couldn’t hike back out. And it’s also an easy way for the local tribe members to gain access back and forth the the hilltop trail head to go into town. All very good questions I suppose I should do more explaining in my videos.

Enjoyed watching. Boy do I know about the heat and hiking, they don't mix well. The sludge is brutal, makes you feel like you have walked miles, when in reality, you have only walked just a few feet. Not fun. Glad you two enjoyed yourself. Until Next time, and there will be many next times.
