Boy they sure seem to be really enjoying the bubbler. If they could speak I'm sure they'd give you a big old "Thank you".

I had no idea that bitterns could eat voles, or at least want to eat one.

Rattle snakes don't always rattle their tails. I have had the misfortune of stepping over a couple only to have it rattle after i had one foot on the opposite side. Thankfully i had heavy leather boots on and was carrying a 16 ga shotgun, which was unfortunate for Mr. Snake.

Great video. I've seen a lot of Southern Pacific rattlers in the San Gabriels, but the red diamond is a new one for me. Weird that he never rattled, but it didn't appear that he was injured.

When I watched a Great Egret catch and eat a vole he took it over to some water to 'wet it down' to eat it, the Bittern didn't seem to do that. And yes, that straight on look at you with the beak straight up is a STRANGE sight! Got photos of that. Thanks for the video, I'm usually doing stills.

I've hiked Hagador and Tin Mine for years and I can probably count on one hand how many snakes I've spotted; most of them were much smaller than the one in the video. Nice find.
