At one time in my life I thought I had a friendship going with a family that owned a few shops. When they needed somebody to open or mind a store for them, there I was. If they needed a product picked up in a hurry they would give me the keys to the Cadillac and off I went across town to do the pick-up. On their daughters wedding day I was invited but had to drive dads car to the reception hall for him. He was starting the day off in a limousine. All good until one day I heard them having an argument with another daughter about "the type of people she was hanging with". You see they believed that there were different class distinctions. They were upper class. Those that worked for you were lower class. AH HA I knew where I stood in their minds. I never did another favour for them. Never said a word as to why because well you know. I do not believe in class distinctions. Never have, never will. So now you will understand why the top end of my watch collection is limited to Victorinox and Longines. I don't need any stranger doing me a favor. BTW, my microwave oven does keep better time as does any Quartz watch. I have both mechanical and quartz watches in my collection. I own Seiko and Citizen watches purchased in the mid 1980's that are still telling time.

Of course, if anyone can just lay their hands on the hot models, they won't be called the hot models anymore, right? Honestly, if any Tom, Dick or Harry or some 15 year old kid can just wear a Sub on the street tat easily, then who in the world will still wanna get a Sub? What the AD did was absolutely necessary.

Love the look. The price? For a movement that doesnt hack and for case that's mostly recycled ( i.e less cost to produce) . No way. Only with a deep discount pre owned.

Rolex AD's have always been nice to me. No issues at all. And I'm just looking around. In all fairness I do look like a Guy who might grab your tie and slam your head through a glass display, but I am very courteous. Door security always nods to me with respect.

I went to a AD dressed in shorts and a button up shirt to be comfy. This AD sold Rolex and Brietling. The saleman immediately profiles me and tried shifting me to Brietling (im not into aviation) and I was not interested. So, I asked about the Explorer 2 and the salesman almost immediately became offended. Im worth over half a million dollars. Sad that they profile like this because I could just go get it off the gray market. At this point I decided to just go get a speedy moonwatch professional. Rolex ADs can kiss my rich ass.

Here in the UK I have been on the list for almost 5 years at Goldsmiths (had expressed a preference for a submariner) and it is so obvious that they have no interest in helping to for me to become a customer.

The ADs I have talked with on the phone. Or at the store. If the manager is out of the store. The staff can’t answer my questions or they don’t want to. Mind games. Never can tell me if they have gotten any GMTs or subs in. My complaints can go on and on.

Crazy thing about this watch is that in Australia it's like over $17k retail from Panerai. But on chrono 24, there's an abundance of them from professional dealers with box and papers for like 7-8k ... I know Panerai has bad resell value, but why on earth would anyone buy this retail 😬😬

My Rolex buying experience was great! Put my name on the list for a black sub date in Aug 2023, but I never heard back. Called July 2024 and was told my prior rep left, and I was now assigned to a new one. The new rep said he could get me the watch "very soon." A month later, I got my sub date and was treated beautifully! I was given the choice of 4 beautiful rolex gifts, and I picked the Rolex wallet. I was also given a rolex magazine and hard cover book. All in all, it was amazing!

Rolex and their dealers have proved to be the dumbest company by actually pissing off customers. People are moving on from this brand I feel...I am.

If you are into Aussie brands, I would check out Second Hour. Just down the street from you in Melbs. Solid people behind the company. You’ll not regret the Radiomir. That’s a special one.

Finally got to see one of these in the metal and try it on. With a Radiomir and a Submersible (47, of course) already in the collection, I’ve taken my time deciding on the perfect Luminor. This is the one. Something special about the 422.

Hmm. I think the staff of the Rolex ADs need to come back down to earth because this attitude is so damaging to the brand. Suggest you perhaps look at another brand.

I have a great relationship with my AD. Can't relate at all to this video. I think the sales rep was trying to see you like other models in the catalogue because it looks like you just know two models before working into the store.

Every time I have to deal with my Rolex AD I leave feeling like shit, cross the street to the Omega Boutique where they greet me by name and fall over themselves to serve me. It's really weird being a VIP of one brand but a worthless piece of sh!t with another. I can afford any watch in their catalogue and can't even get taken seriously. As Omega have found out, if you sell me the watch I want I will come back bigger and better, over and over again and I bring them other clients by referral. For f*cks sake I just want an Explorer II, it shouldn't be that hard for an unpopular model. I don't even care about the dial colour.

To me if you can afford one of these luxury items you should get whatever you want and be treated very well! If not spend the money where you will be.

the benefit to their setup is they are not beheld ant to short term (quarterly) reports to share holders and stock markets... they are a bit like Steve McQueen .. They answer to no one.

Now you want one more than ever. Supply and demand. It is human nature to always want the unattainable. If they call you are going to make a video on your new Rolex.

Buy the watch you want but broaden your search.
