In Florida the Water Table was NOT a factor since the whole park is actually built up onto (in essence) a second floor because the Utilidoors are the first floor. They excavated the lake out front of the park to use as fill to build up the park and cover the Utilidoors section. They just wanted to copy the original design as much as possible for the same feel, even though they aren't actually elevators.
@DJCarsonCreative8 күн бұрын
I was under the impression that the Utilidoor corridors were not under the entire park but only a portion of it? I didn’t think it went as far as the Haunted Mansion in Frontierland ?
@zepdog45958 күн бұрын
@@DJCarsonCreative yes, it spans the whole park.

The Tea Party scene is incorrect. The hatter was not pouring Tea; him and March Hair pop out with scarey faces and scream that you are rude and tell you to move down. Before you go through the explosions and get kicked outside. Your video is the second version of the ride made after Walt died. There have been four versions. The third version added the Queen of Hearts and caterpillar. The fourth version added cartoon clips of Alice.
@DJCarsonCreative28 күн бұрын
You are absolutely right, I took creative license and included the second, friendlier version of the Hatter and Hare.
@ronwolek122827 күн бұрын
Then maybe you should title it 1960s version or which ever date it was changed.

I love this project. How did you render the 360 video for uploading to KZbin? I'm using Enscape in Sketchup, but it only seems to let me render single panoramas. If I export an animation from Enscape it's not 360.
@DJCarsonCreativeАй бұрын
I brought the model into Unity, applied a 360 camera to the vehicle model and the ran the whole thing on a spline “track”. Pretty easy to do, the output was what you see in the VR KZbin video.
@charlesstockman6370Ай бұрын
@@DJCarsonCreative Thanks for the reply! I haven't used Unity but will go check it out. My son is crazy for dark rides. We have Oculus Go goggles and he's watched Pumpkin Town dozens of times. Now we are working on his own simple ride in Sketchup.

As much as I love this ride, I always thought the extra short indoor portion with the cat and the tea party was a bit odd after going outside.

I didn't work on the 1984 refresh of the Alice attraction but I believe one of the goals of New Fantasyland was to plus each of the attractions and that included adding length to the track and extra show elements. For Alice that included taking a bite out of the Toad show building which happened to be located at the lower end of the exterior ramp. I have always enjoyed it but light leaks were always going to be a challenge for this area. Still, more show is always good in my book.

Scale no, only the complexity and number of objects, animations, and effects in an environment limit capacity

What happens to the Queen of Hearts?
@DJCarsonCreativeАй бұрын
She didn't appear until the 1983/84 rehab of the attraction. The dark room with the explosions and the pointing signs is where the Queen is now, and I believe she also too up space that was originally a maintenance area in that scene as well.

I don't know the product name, we just called it the "lipstick camera" because it was about the size of a lipstick but with a fat cable that connected to a nearby Video Recorder. The quality was awful but we felt like we were living in the future when we used it back in 1991.

Hey Don, are you still using Google Blocks or have you switched to Gravity Sketch for your modeling? I noticed the newer levels in Walkabout have much more complex characters and props. Love your work!
@DJCarsonCreative2 ай бұрын
Google shuttered access to Google Blocks so sadly I am unable to continue using it. Gravity Sketch is now our go-to for massing new courses during the concept phase and for when we start to bring assets in to arrange them inside the environment. We do use GS for model building but mostly for organic assets as tools like Blender still give us more control over rectilinear objects and structures. The Puffins in the most recent course were all originally built in GS.

This is the California version of the HM. The Florida Mansion does have a library, and a stairway labyrinth room that the CA does not. Florida also has many technical upgrades that the CA version has never gotten, for some reason?

how to change its pose?
@DJCarsonCreative4 ай бұрын
I can manipulate the pose in Gravity Sketch by moving the geometry around with soft select. If I want several poses I might take a character modeled in an easy T-post into Blender and give it a simple rig/bones so I can move the limbs around and create a variety of poses.

At the time Google Block allowed you to export the models as OBJ files. Not sure if the application still even works, sadly. The same work can also be achieved using @GravitySketch but even that application is limited to only a few downloads/exports per month for the free account.
