What !!? When you transplant just let the soil medium dry and TURN THE POT AROUND , hold the banana upside down and the roots are not even touched .. The. Way you do it is dangerous and break the smaller roots also the banana will stress even more .

I would definitely cut the root of the onion off before using it as a compost or you're going to have onions they grow very easy. It's best to keep some of the original dirt so you don't shock your plant watering it down like that and removing all the dirt was shocked your plant. And lastly if you put down newspaper and gently roll the pot back and forth motion it loosens the dirt and you'll be able to get the plant out without tugging on it
