I worked in sf hunters point housing projects. I prefer the peerless 700 chain handcuffs easier when wrestling with a perp than hinged hand cuffs in my opinion. But I have seen many police officers recommending the hinged.

The swing thru bow on Peerless cuffs is rounded rather than flat like on the other cuff brands, the area that touches the wrist, and is more uncomfortable, almost painful. I refuse to use them. Cuffs are unpleasant enuff as it is, i wasn't going to make it worse.

Any hip cop would not be mixing and matching cuffs. Hiatts has chains to match the hinge. Hiatt sold co. to. Safariland. S&W has hinged and chain.

Illinois sucks for guards you basically have to just runaway defeating the purpose of security. They need to elevate security authority slightly above the average citizen but still not have all the benefits of being a real cop.

1 or 2 things that may help you out as there lighter and faster Velcro restraint's useful for the kickersas for the torch I had 1 ones it eats battery's and gets hot when used over a long time try getting CREE 7w torch ledbattery's that you can get are rechargeable and last a long time and I have found them to be more powerful and has the same 3 settings high / low / strobe and as for the keys put them on a retracting coil nothing worse than trying to hand over some one to the cops as your taking the cuffs off and struggling and drop the key awkward.

hey man, I am just starting out work as a healthcare security guard in Ontario in the Niagara region.. who do you work for?? we are specifically NOT allowed to carry a lot of what you have unfortunately.. just wanted you to know its not the same all over Ontario ;P... I guess the clients want the guards not to look overly "intimidating" and no handcuffs either. at any rate cheers

Dude your so lucky to be in Ontario. I worked security in BC in the busiest hospital in the province SMH. We weren't allowed hand cuffs, batons, or even body armour. We were even threatened to be fired if we were caught wearing body armour under are uniforms. Batons aren't legal in BC for security. And hand cuffs are legal with AST but your rarely allowed to carry them. And if you are legally allowed to carry them and your company says no and you do your fired if the company finds out. Working Security in BC sucks, is totally thankless and is very dangerous we are allowed nothing to defend are selves. This is one of the biggest reason I got out of security after 5 years and been in over 100 hands on conflicts in health care and a few out side health care.
