yes and no because I am very vigilant of my surroundings so I know what is going on at all time and I am very good a preventing problems or situations before the arise, but yes because mental health patients can be unpredictable so you always have to expect the unexpected and be alert and safe at all times.

Very nice review, personally I prefer hinged cuffs for the compliance issue. If a person is non compliant with hinged cuffs you can twist the wrists a bit to get compliance. Its probably a minor thing but I feel that gives you just that little bit extra control on a non compliant subject.

Peerless all the way, love the push pin double lock, and the price for a solid pair of cuffs. i asked several different deputies which they preferred and they choose Peerless ove S&W.

I've always preferred hinged over chain. I like them for the exact reason you pointed out - that they don't move around. If there's a big person then you just put two of them together. I can also just use flex cuffs if it's a bigger person.

Hey buddy. Do the Safariland cuffs have a key hole on each side of the cuff or are they set up like the peerless? Im trying to replace my Asp cuffs with a hinged set. Cant stand Asp personally...absolutely no spring to them and too often im using my knee to make it catch...I was just curious if the Safaris have holes on the other side.

Any hip cop would not be mixing and matching cuffs. Hiatts has chains to match the hinge. Hiatt sold co. to. Safariland. S&W has hinged and chain.

I worked in sf hunters point housing projects. I prefer the peerless 700 chain handcuffs easier when wrestling with a perp than hinged hand cuffs in my opinion. But I have seen many police officers recommending the hinged.

Although I don't carry or use handcuffs since I'm neither in LE or loss prevention, I do have a small collection of handcuffs and from this, I can say that the best are the Smith & Wesson hinged cuffs (M300-1), followed by the UK-made Hiatts (type 2010)...at least in my collection.

I just bought a pair of the hinged, I work in loss prevention and I handcuff I would say %50 of my shoplifters; because they resist. You said in the video "its difficult to handcuff if there not complying". How much of a difference is it?, cause I might return them if its going to be impossible to detain a subject (especially if they are resisting).

its because their arms need to be pretty close and wrists must be in right position, but once you get one side on , you can twist them a bit and they generaly give emediat compliance, deff worth the buy!

Everyone may own them depending where live in USA most states have a open self defense law as it can be used for citizen arrest but you must speak in a court why you citizen arrested them an all must be in accordance to law also used in sex so no laws really just when used in defense right way your fine

Hiatt. Safariland bought them. Fairly obvious. They are the ultimate restaraints. The alloy versions are the ones to go with. Much lighter. Stelloy was what they were called as Hiatt

The swing thru bow on Peerless cuffs is rounded rather than flat like on the other cuff brands, the area that touches the wrist, and is more uncomfortable, almost painful. I refuse to use them. Cuffs are unpleasant enuff as it is, i wasn't going to make it worse.

Personal preference. I know plenty of SAPD officers that prefer ASP, S&W, peerless and Hiatt over each other and for all different reasons. Every brand breaks eventually.
