I had an '83 K5 Blazer with the 6.2, added a Banks turbo, went to manual glow plug control but used 24 volt glow plugs instead of 12. Heat them for 30 seconds and it starts right off, and you can't kill them.

Just in case you weren’t aware, the governor on a diesel engine defaults to the full fuel position until the engine starts and then it goes to idle. So pressing the gas pedal while cranking the engine over does nothing.

A farmer i used to work for had one of those. It got more miles on the dealer roll back than under its own power. Then there was another at paving company i worked for . It got ran hard every day and ran for at least 80,000 miles when i was there. Hit or miss i guess.

Wherever you live, you are lucky if they dont use the salt brine on the roads where you live. It is such a additional cost to have a winter beater for the cold/wet season.

No need for the steering wheel lock rod. A thief would not likely try to steal a truck that takes all morning to start.

Nice square body. Too nice to drive in the snow thar will rust it away.

Steering wheel lock is a waste. Cut the steering wheel on each side of the lock which should take less than 90 second and it's off.

I like the body style (reminds me of my Dad’s truck), although I would love to see one of these with a 6.5 diesel and a NV4500 in it.

Is that a turbo kit, or did you just pull parts from a 6.5? Trying to figure out the whole turbo thing right now
@compressorhead023 күн бұрын
i used a BAE exhaust manifold with a WH1C holset turbo off a first gen Cummins my truck already had the feed and return lines for the turbo, then i just welded up some exhaust out of used bits and it works great had it on for over 2 years and still runs like a top!

whatever you do keep the boost under 10 LBS unless you do head studs and probably head gaskets, also make sure you dont have cracked heads or cracked block webbings

What did you have to do to convert your 6.2 to a turbo? Like whats everything youd need to add to make it work. Id love to turbo my 82 blazer
@compressorhead022 ай бұрын
@@aha3335 you are going to need an oil feed and oil return, you will also need an exhaust manifold and an intake manifold which you can source from 6.5 diesel you can even use the 6.5 turbo probably the oil feed line and the drain on the oil pan or you can try to source an old banks kit but those are rare and expensive
@compressorhead022 ай бұрын
@@aha3335 6.5 are significantly more common than the bank's kits you could even just swap the 6.5 into your Blazer It would bolt up depending upon whether you have air conditioning in the truck you might have to modify your blower motor assembly that has the AC stuff in it
