Simon, hoping you can help me brainstorm a solution. I'd like to use my iPhone 16 as a camera for a video podcast etc. To do that, I need to be able to use my iPhone 16 and the BlackMagic Camera App as a webcam in order to record video directly on the Mac or through Riverside app/web client etc. If I plug usb-c to usb-c it only works for the regular video app and not BM. I am also using a usb-c audio interface to record audio. Any help/suggestions/brainstorms is GREATLY appreciated!

Hi, thank you for this very good and useful video. I face an issue since the beginning with my iPhone 16 pro. Even with SSD external lexar connected and Blackmagic app 2,1,000170, from time to time, I can record 120 fps and at other time I am limited to 60 fps. I haver never figured out why. Thank you in advance if you have an idea on this

Hi, I just downloaded the Blackmagic Camera app on my iPhone 16 Pro and I have an issue with the UI, it is not rotating to a horizontal (landscape). I have tried all the settings but I see no way to see the same screen UI as yours. Can anyone help? Thanks a lot.

Quick question, i don’t know how to clear the camera setting on the camera page, or do i have to go into setting every time to “reset camera setting” and do all my camera settings again to film the next scene. Pls help

While you are correct about the need to keep ISO as low as possible to reduce noise on a normal digital camera, the iPhone 15 Pro, at least, makes that decision more complex. Even when shooting outdoors during the day, Gerald Undone in his "Dynamic Range Test" here on KZbin found that setting the ISO to 1250 optimizes Dynamic Range when shooting Apple Log. And of course, when doing that outside, an ND filter would be required.

And I can't find it with a search in settings on the phone. Do I have to install something to my phone? Or does it only work with selected gimbals?

I’m running into an issue. Admit I’m a bit of a noob. When I record in Apple Log and H264 when I look at the footage it says it’s recorded in the REC2020 colour space. Am I missing something or should this be in apple log in this case?

New update, but the issue where the image jumps on the longest and shortest lenses remains. Especially on the iPhone 16 Pro.

There's lots I could say about how good this video is, but I'll just mention one thing. Unlike most other 'best settings' tutorial, you don't only tell us the best settings for you, you also tell us what all the settings do, allowing us to make up our own minds depending on what we want, which genre of photography/videography we're doing, and so forth. How do I select where the slowmotion should kick in ? If I select the 25 like you did it will start with that from the beginning of the video, how do I make it play at normal speed for the first part of the video and then later have slowmotion kick in ? Or if I want normal speed at first, then slowmo in the middle and then normal speed again at the end, I dont see how I can do this with the sliders.

I haven't seen anyone love the Sandmarc 6X lens yet. Does anyone have a good 5-6X lens? Reeflex is releasing a 240mm, but it's for the 5X camera. Maybe no one has yet figured out how to do this well for the main camera.

I just came across your channel. It seems very informative and helpful. In your opinion, what is the best iPhone for video creation?

Oops! The rare mistake ;) You said main lens and ultra wide are threaded. The SANDMARC case has threads over the main and the tele lenses, not the ultra wide. I've had the wide and tele 2x in both 40.3mm and 43mm forms. Annoying when they changed, b/c they fulfilled orders for filters wrong for months. The 43mm versions are cleaner. My anamorphic 1.55x is the old size, and that lens is interesting. The filters are quite good. I ordered the tele 6x today to complete the lens set that I want, and the last of the filters that I need to go from the old size to the new size. While I have been a camera guy for a few decades and fought phone-as-camera for a time, my iPhones from 11 up (now 15 Pro) really do a fine job and the SANDMARC lenses just make it better.

Thank you! Some more compression adjustments on your voice would allow your word volume range swings (loud and soft) to be easier to hear. You have fantastic narration voice, but it is very difficult to hear if there is any other noise (such as my fan) in the room, because within the words some portions are too loud and others are too soft. Maybe the compression timing and release need adjusting? I hope this helps.
