One of the most underrated channels. No fluff. No Hype. Just honest information provided in a concise and easy-to-understand format. I hope your channel takes off. You should consider the "Buy me coffee" button or "Thank Me" button... I rarely feel the urge to thank the creator, but this is the case... but no button. Thanks for your work. I am a KZbinr myself (two channels, not linked to this profile) so I get it how much work it is to create some of your tutorials (e.g. your exhaustive black magic app tutorial). All the best with your channel.

thank you. This is actually my smaller channel. I didn't realise I had enough subs to switch Super Thanks on. I have it enabled on my other channel. Anyway, switched on now!

There is simply too much fluff on youtube around this phone and the camera app. these 'popular youtubers' are over complicating the information they share. whereas the simplicity and easy delivery from Simon is just what we need. Thank you for creating this video.

I have just stumbled on your channel while I was looking for help with the 15 pro max settings. Thank you so much for making such an easy video to follow, although it was quite what I was looking for I have gained other info I don’t know I needed to know. I will check out some of your other videos. Also the way you come across as calm and informative are a big bonus, to me you are a natural teacher and rare thing to find. So many KZbinrs are really too quick or too loud, I find it difficult to absorb what they are saying and loos concentration, so thank you for your teaching style. Big up to the Brighton filming, I’m not too far from you by the looks of things 😊

Great explanation Simon, which helps demystify much of the 'industry' jargon! Your presentation style, which addresses all of the salient points, combined with your mellifluous voice, make the subject matter easy to follow!

Very useful. Thank you. When using Apple log and only using the conversion LUT to visualise, is it best to set the color space tag to Apple Log?

Nice stuff! Any tips on shooting in log with an nd filter (i got the polarpro vnd 3-5) in high light snowy mountains? I’m a beginner shooting in log and want to make the most of this unique opportunity. Any guidance on setting up the camera would be greatly appreciated

I’m running into an issue. Admit I’m a bit of a noob. When I record in Apple Log and H264 when I look at the footage it says it’s recorded in the REC2020 colour space. Am I missing something or should this be in apple log in this case?

Thanks for the video. Just one suggestion if I may, never apply LUT in basic correction section, rather go to creative section and apply it from there, that way you preserve way more information and it gives you more leeway for recovering the highlights and shadows.

Hi. And you shoot the apple or black magic app as standard. I've tried it anyway. The result when converting from the log is different, what is the reason for this? Different algorithm?
@HorrocksoniPhone Жыл бұрын
you would need to ask Blackmagic why it comes out differently. I use both

I am a complete beginner, if I understand correctly if I buy the lut from your link will it give me a simulation of the arri camera? so I would no longer need to color grade the video log of the iPhone 15 pro at all bc I don’t even know how to color grade.
@HorrocksoniPhone Жыл бұрын
if you bake in the LUT you don't need to do any further color work

Simon . Thanks for all your efforts as always. On the similar note . Can you explain in layman's terms what the hell is Prores 4444 . I also searched the apple site and to be honest its just more confusing. I know its mainly for special effects and alpha channel stuff . But what do the 4444 actual mean . Thanks as always !
@HorrocksoniPhone Жыл бұрын
as it's no longer available in the Blackmagic app, not sure we can even shoot 4444 anymore. But in short the number 4 is to do with Chroma subsampling (a form of video compression) where 4 is the maximum (100%). www.makeuseof.com/chroma-subsampling-what-is-it-why-does-it-matter/

Nice video! Of course I do like the Arri Alexa color science... still I would like to do my own LUT, set based on different light scenarios (3400k for indoor, 5600k daylight and 6000+k for a sunny bright outdoor scenario. I will only use the xrite color checker; match the colors on different ISO stages of the 15promax and expect to get technically extremely clean colours reproduced. Well, next week I have a day or 2 just to figure
