I followed that advice for a rootless moth orchid, except the styrofoam, and it grew new, healthy roots. The outer leaves became yellow and fell off, but a new small leave appeared in the middle. I have now planted the orchid in bark medium. It looks OK. Sydney, Australia 24 Nov 2024.

In my experience it's very rare for an orchid to produce keikis. I own orchids for over 20 years now and this year it happened for the first time that one of my orchids decided to grow a keiki. Thank you for the video and the research. 😊 Great work!

Sadly while the scientific community explanation of roots is nice, growing in moss is not the culprit as I have over 500 orchid, all growing in moss that are thriving.

There lots of reasons people move down south!

It is NOT recommended to suddenly move the sphagnum plants into the bark. Such an operation can be extremely damaging and can produce a very high mortality rate among Phalaenopsis specimens. The transition from one culture system to another will be done gradually. Especially after the purchase of the plants, it is necessary to acclimatize the plants in the new environment, before changing the culture system.

Since we're talking about prickly stuff. . . Once I went to the Eno River as a kid and got something stuck in my big toe. It was long, sharp, and striped black and white. It hurt a lot when it went in and I was crying hard. When my dad tried to pull it out on his first attempt it broke so easily it seemed like he was breaking uncooked pasta. Then he got it out. It wasn't barbed, but there was a sort of bump it hit when he was pulling it out. Anyone know what this prickly foe was?

Я тоже посеяла семена,взяла из хорошей ягоды.Выросло какоето чудо ,вначале ростишка была похожа на клубнику,но когда подрос изменился,листья стали чемто похожи на чистотел.Может ктото обьяснить почему так?

Спасибо за информацмю .мне нравится черенковать гортензию. Срезы черенков опудриваю Био Корнем от Органик Микс..препарат растительный,не токсичный абсолютно безопасный. прекрасно укореняет черенки.

I have an orchid that is about 10 years old and has hardly any roots, most of them died off and some were dead and moldy so I cut them off. All its leaves have fallen off except for one leaf bud. And the crown is kind of yellow. I have moss growing all over the place at my house, but I was wondering if it matters which moss I use? And also if there is any tips you could give me, I would really love that! This orchid is very special and I would be sad to see it go after all these years. Thank you for all your videos.

Не правда. Купила семена в середине лета. Посадила в августе. Всхожесть 100 %.Распикировала в стаканчики. Сейчас начало ноября. На окне безо всякой подсветки зацвела. Но получается не сразу. Это с годами и опытом. Если очень хочется то сможете.
