I have grown Keikis off my orchid stock before. You just have to catch the orchid right as the last bloom is fading. Cut off all the dead bloom & stock. Cut about 1" above the first un-bloomed bud. Peel off the shield and apply Keiki paste. Put cinnamon on the top of the stock where you cut it. You can also use candle wax. Then water and fertilize your orchid as normal. Follow the directions on the box of Keiki paste. It is so simple and easy. Give it a try and don't just follow the idea of someone who did something one time on one plant.

To get my keiki, it was an accident. It grew around the meristem bud, when I had a bow tied tightly around it. The keiki was on the mother plant for over two years, and bloomed this year. Recently, the mother plant has not been doing well, so I separated them.

Keiki paste. Just try it. I have grown Keikis with it successfully several times. She just didn't do it correctly. Her plant had withered stock at the top. That has to be cut off or the stock dies. It is super easy just follow the directions. I do Not sell or have any affiliation with the people who make it. It just works wonderfully and is easy to apply.

I like theroy that an Orchid will start to grow Keikis if it is in decline. I was given a small sick Phal and at the time I had no grow lights, it stayed on a fairly dim North facing window during winter here in the UK for about 3 months, I went to water it and noticed what looked liked a keiki. After depoting it I found that there were 2 keikis growing close to the crown, one very new keiki and one that already had 2 decent roots of it's own. I cut the larger keiki off about 6 weeks ago and it's doing very well. The smaller Keiki is now nearly ready to remove too, it has 2 small roots. It will be interesting to see if the Mother plant will go back to regular flowering after the 2nd and last Keiki is removed, maybe she will have the energy to flower again as she is now in much better health than when i first got her. Do very healthy Orchids produce Keikis very often?
@debbiefox684610 күн бұрын
Yes they can. Use Keiki paste on unopened buds and you can grow more Keikis and flower stocks. Your mother plant is possibly dying. Make sure you give it plenty of water and Orchid fertilizer on a regular schedule. You may be able to save the mother plant. Look on aYT. There are many at home remedies that heal unhealthy Orchids. Rice water, garlic, cinnamon, and aloe mixed in water all help sick orchids. Maybe pick something for yourself that you are comfortable with. Good luck

In my experience it's very rare for an orchid to produce keikis. I own orchids for over 20 years now and this year it happened for the first time that one of my orchids decided to grow a keiki. Thank you for the video and the research. 😊 Great work!

I used Keiki paste on unopened buds. First you must catch the orchid before the last bloom falls off. Next cut off all dead growth at the top. Either apply cinnamon to the sliced top or wax. Either works. Then take off the shields on unopened buds. Apply the Keiki paste. Fertilize and water your orchid on a good schedule and you will grow both Keikis and new flower stocks. It works and is super simple. I've done it several times. The worst thing that happens is you grow more flowers.

I got 3. It is so simple. I also got many blooming stocks. I think it's sad she said everyone was faking. It is simply not true that everyone is. I love Keiki paste. It works for me just fine and I have made reproductions of my orchids before. It's very simple

In the last 23 years I had 7 instances of keiki formation, all in Phale under water and/or light distress. In 2 instances I had 2 and 3 keikis forming in neighbouring nodes, so it can happen naturaly. I currently have a plant that has 2 in adjacent nodes, too bad I cannot post a pic.... For sure, keiki formation (vegetative reproduction) is a last ditch effort on the side of the plant to try and win a loosing battle, and it makes sence. Never had I a keiki forming on a well sustained orchid... In fact, there is a certain side (a certain corner) of my wintering area in which 90% of keiki baring Phalenpopsis evolve. It is the furthest from heat and on the border of the full spectrum led illumination...

Look on here for the man that uses Keiki paste. I followed his instructions and my Phal grew 3 Keikis and 3 flower stocks. It is completely possible. You have to catch the Orchid right as the last bloom is fading. The top dead portion of the stock has got to be removed. Slice about 1" above the 1st un-bloomed node on the stock. Put either cinnamon or wax on the top cut portion of the stock. Just apply the paste as directed and water the orchid normally. You don't need cotton on the stock. The plant can water the stock just fine. You can most of you want. Water and fertilize on a regular schedule. It works. Was super simple.

Hi Thank you for the very useful video. On many other videos they say to use different kind of pots specially made with lots of holes on the sides, but you are using the regular pots with the wholes on the bottom. I feel the pots with lots of holes on the sides are very expensive so can I use the regular pot with the wholes on the bottom?

Did I misunderstand you? Around 10:30/11 minutes you said that they’re fake if they have more than one keiki? My one plant had 3 keikis on a single stem
@yungblastbeat4 ай бұрын
She said more than one keiki per node, not stem

I have grown 3 Keikis off 1 stock as well. It wasn't hard. Just used Keiki paste. I think she dismissed the whole thing because she didn't do it correctly and because she didn't try several methods. She was mad it didn't work so she said all others are fake which is simply not true. Just because one can't do something it doesn't make everyone else a faker or phony. It's really insulting.

@@debbiefox6846my first phal was a keiki that the nursery owner cut off and sold to me bare-root. That phal subsequently gave me 5 keikis! It was under a lot of stress because of neglect due to my job. I removed the keikis and mounted 3 and potted two. The two weakest ones died because I moved them just as they were getting established but the other 3 and the mother plant are doing well. In essence, I agree with you; because it didn't work for you doesn't mean it's not possible.

What about keiki paste? I was thinking about trying that on my phal schelleriana.
@Classyflowers6 ай бұрын
In my opinion, keiki paste is actually pretty much scam. Using it on flowers spikes may stimulate only additional flowers growth, nothing else.
@debbiefox684610 күн бұрын
@@ClassyflowersYou are absolutely incorrect. I personally have used it and was able to grow 3 Keikis off my stocks on 1 plant. If you haven't tried it you really don't have the right to say it is a fraud. It has worked for many people.

My plant started growing keikis after all the flowers fell off. Still no roots. I have no idea how to help them, could anyone suggest something?
@kellygvoth12555 ай бұрын
My keikis grew for at least 2-3 months before they started growing roots. The one actually fell off and died before I could cut them off the stem because of how long I had to wait! Once they started to grow though, it was only about 2 months before I was ready to cut them off and plant them.
