Been trying to find this call for the longest because I hear it where I work super loud in the morning. But every time I looked it up, all I ever found was a damn catbird. I remember hearing this a lot in the early “creepy” episodes of SpongeBob lol

My neighbor got a peacock recently, and it’s daily schedule involves running across the road into our yard (and to the forest) scream it’s head off for hours, then wander back into my yard just in time for our neighbors to realize it’s gone and chase it across our yard back to it’s home. I think my neighbors are insane. At least he’s (she?) is a fun bird to chat with xD

Is it just me or does every peacock call in this video sound like the peacock is getting spooked constantly?

Ah, peacocks. Chickens and ducks are good for eggs, turkeys are good for meat, geese are good for watchdogs, and peafowl are good for absolutely nothing whatever except providing an opportunity for introduction to your local sheriff’s deputy. That call sounds to your neighbors exactly like a woman screaming desperately for help: and once the deputy gets there, and you’re trying to explain what the neighbors heard, that damn peacock will stubbornly refuse to make a sound. Aggravating waste of perfectly good oxygen, you ask me.

i’m so glad i found this video! i’m 14 and i live in a big forest and around late april and then throughout the summer my family and i always hear this sound and i would get so curious to what it was because we hadn’t ever heard the sound until about a year ago! it has been a mystery since and i would always spook my sister out and say it’s a dinosaur or something that lives in our forest ahahah! but now i can tell them it’s just a peacock! i wonder where it lives 😅
@netabolt6546
@netabolt6546 Жыл бұрын
actually yes, it IS a dinosaur. to be not get confused, an Avian Dinosaur. the Non Avian Dinosaurs are excting but a subgroup from the maniraptorian (theropod dinosaurs with like velociraptor, oviraptor, dromeosaurus etc) got evolved into what we now call birds, so yeah, Its a Dinosaur living in the forrest. i heard one too in the small woods not far from home and wanted to be sure and yes, it is a Peacock i'm also hearing. its creepy at first lol.

When we were little, in the village there was a big Manor house that kept peacocks. We could hear them half a mile away and my brother would ask what the noise was, my dad told him it's the lady of the manor calling for help because she was stuck in the bath?!

Peafowl came to our door all the time, the first time we lived in Hawaii. We fed them. They would scratch on our roof, peck our door, and call. I grew up loving peafowl, and always watch them with amazement.
