The Les Paul had most tone on that 6th string note. I had a Les Paul then switched to a PRS for a few years. The Les Paul Standard is the king. IMO.

What if that same type of thinking applied to the rest of the guitar world. We wouldn’t have other Tele style guitars, we wouldn’t have a bunch of Klon type drive pedals, 1 string maker , etc…. Why so many older discontinued guitars, rather than current models? What's the point of using guitars that people can't readily get anywhere?

The Katana is an amp that players of all levels can use. Unless the audience is made up of guitar geeks then what amp is being used is unnoticed. Great players will make it sound great. It might not be plug and play for the best sound but a great player could dial it in just like any other amp. The sound of tubes will always be iconic but today’s technological advances give players an excessive amount of top tier choices. Just like music production/recording equipment analog/tube technology is no longer at the forefront. Dave Grohl’s movie Sound City showed the evolution to digital years ago. I really believe that Eric Clapton could dial in a Katana or any other digital device and not one person would question his sound. The fact that the majority of musicians aren’t touring musicians should make the argument moot at this point.

Literally just doing the same thing - small rig for theater/functions stuff. Good to know it worked out - only thing is how did you end up setting up patches? Not sure about the latency issue...!
@James_stanley_guitar_uk
@James_stanley_guitar_uk Ай бұрын
With patches I made a couple and used a switcher to put on some effects like chorus and boost when appropriate. I also had nylon string acoustic which I used a patch to plug into. I used an acoustic sim patch for a couple of steel string songs…that sounded good though had a high pitch hiss when playing I had to EQ out. I tested it with my PA system in my studio but when I. The theatre I ended up re EQing. This past weekend I have gigged it again in another theatre and used the high cut on the speaker cab which was better. I have now uploaded some celestion IRs and much prefer those …that has fixed the need to do any EQ. Not had any latency issues.

The Mini Q-Tron in the BM style case is so much cooler. If you get into these, definitely track down a vintage big-box Q-Tron Plus, as it has a lot more options. Its also a lot cheaper than a Lovetone Meatball and offers much of the same opportunities.

Which do you prefer, the ss se or a fender ??
@James_stanley_guitar_uk
@James_stanley_guitar_uk Ай бұрын
I think the SS has a fab neck and vibe and I use it on lots of gigs for the strat sounds but my start I keep at home and use it for more dirty blues stuff (with its Texas specials etc). I think if I had a SS I wouldn’t want to buy a fender but even though I had a fender I wanted the SS, I think that’s down to the slightly thinker tone and different vibe but still accommodating startty tones.though mine is an SE and my fender is a USA model o have had some issues with the SE but I think that it’s rare people do get issues with them and the design on the PRS is fab.

That Gibson LP Jr was considered to be one of the worst LP Jr in the history; mainly due to its ultra wide width neck instead of 50s neck, robotic tuners instead of Kluson, and the P90ST instead of regular P90, weird adjustable nut instead of traditional nut. I had one a coule years ago, but got rid of it thankfully after a year, it was no where in the comparison as my LP Jr from 2020. Even the Epiphone one was miles better than that 2015 Gibson. And funny enough a year later, I saw that guitar on Facebook Marketplace, sold by another guy who bought it from the buyer who bought from me LOL

Yes 15 was the peak for Gibson losing the plot. I did find the neck a little wide but I play a lot of PRS do it wasn’t daunting. I don’t like the picture of Les Paul watching me play on the headstock…that guy was a monster player lol…

$1500 is too much, I bought my Tonemaster Twin for less than 900 on sale a year ago and I love it. If Tonemaster amps would hover in the 8-900 range, they would not be able to make enough of them and would dominate a lot of the market.

If the Bassman Tone Master is anywhere near as good as the Deluxe Reverb/Twin Tone Masters, I would be willing to pay close to the msrp. I've always wanted a tube driven '59 Bassman but it was always just a little too expensive and way too heavy and loud for using it as a practice or gigging amp. I'm excited to see Fender finally giving into the consumer demand and including an effects loop as well as adding reverb. I'm also intrigued by the "Vintage-Tight" switch and how that might improve the amps versatility. Last but definitely not least is the claimed weight of just 32 pounds. For reference, the Blues Jr. is 31.5 pounds. A half pound difference and you get a 4x10 monster vs a single 12" speaker with 15 watts. And unlike the Deluxe Reverb and Twin Tone Masters, the Bassman still retains its original speakers. I can't wait for some reviews and demos to start popping up.

Deluxes are very portable (light) amps-- why go the tonemaster route with such a light amp?...what's next.. the tonemaster Champ--lol.. Now a super reverb..Pro...tweed bassman...ok that i can get the tonemaster route. But i don't own one so...who knows?
@sempercompellis
@sempercompellis Ай бұрын
the thing about it being digital means there is nothing over and above the digital "59 bassman setting" on the latest modeler; The modeler may even be better; it just comes down to who modeled it better. Now you get the cab and the speakers (a lot of people shit on those new Jensens, i always thought they were great)- you are really just buying the look....the vibe.
